Adventure Canada was founded in 1987 when brothers Matthew and Bill Swan and friend David Freeze began taking travellers to 'off the map' destinations. Adventure Canada's first ever trip was hiking in Auyuittuq National Park. Before long, Adventure Canada was able to organise regular trips to three of Canada's coastlines. In 1993, the Environmental Discovery series was launched on the West Coast. In 1994, Adventure Canada launched the Arctic Coast project on board the expedition cruise ships of the time. In 1995, it launched the first trip to the Labrador coast, a pioneering expedition to cruise the fjords of the Torngat Mountains of Nunatsiavut.
Today, it operates more with Ocean Endeavour which is a versatile ship built specifically for Adventure Canada's unique style of travel. As always, it is the agile Zodiacs that make expedition cruising a true adventure. The staff of educators, researchers, cultural ambassadors and creatives never cease to engage, inform and amaze passengers. Adventure Canada offers the opportunity to appreciate the wonders of nature in a sustainable way in some of the world's most beautiful places with a deep commitment to safety. The staff are rigorously trained and certified for their roles and the ships' crews are highly experienced. To provide safe routes, itineraries have been planned in collaboration with the captain, crew and local guides.
