Thurgau Travel Introduces the New Mekong Discovery
Starting in October 2024, a new ship will ply the waters of the northern Mekong River between Cambodia and Vietnam. The Mekong Discovery will join the fleet of Thurgau Travel, one of the world’s leading river tour operators.
2024 season and already on sale online, as well as exclusive Advent 2023 short cruises on the Moselle, Elbe and Weser.
Thurgau Travel is proud to present its two new ships under construction: The first is the MS Thurgau Gold, currently the most sustainable ship in the river industry, with itineraries on the Rhine and its tributaries already available for booking. The 5-star flagship will have a maximum capacity of 182 passengers, with the first departures starting in July 2023.
The second new ship, to be launched in October 2024, will be Mekong Discovery. Cruises will be longer and will connect Cambodia with Vietnam by sailing along the southern Mekong. Its small size will allow it to travel along smaller canals and into the interior of cities. With a maximum capacity of 37 passengers, Mekong Discovery will sail from Angkor Wat, a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, to Saigon. Cruises departing between October 2024 and April 2025 will be available in the coming weeks.
Daniel Pauli-Kaufmann, CEO of Thurgau Travel, said: “We are very excited to expand both our travel offerings and our river cruise fleet for 2024. The MS Thurgau Gold, the most sustainable and modern ship currently under construction, will welcome our guests with a high-end 5-star offering. The ship will initially operate on the Rhine and its tributaries. Thurgau Travel’s second ship, the Mekong Discovery, will delight lovers of Asia, offering exclusive adventures and experiences on the southern Mekong River.”
