Prepare to be amazed by the vibrant architecture and streets of Bangkok, a city bursting with life and colours. With many things to offer, from ancient history to modern buildings and even to rich, diverse performances, Bangkok truly has an option for every taste, so let yourself be guided through this beautiful city.

How to get to Bangkok

Depending on your starting point and the countries you want to visit during your journey, you will have many cruise itineraries to choose from, such as those offered by Norwegian Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, Oceania Cruises, Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas or Holland America Line.

Celebrity Cruises and Princess Cruises, as always, have a variety of itineraries to choose from and offer a more luxurious experience on board, with quality entertainment, gourmet meals and luscious suites.

World War II Trail

If you are interested in Thailand’s wartime history, you cannot miss the tour organised by Tour East, where you’ll stop at famous World War II landmarks as you listen to your guide’s expert explanation of the local wartime history. On this tour, you’ll stop at the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery in Kanchanaburi, a lush province west of Bangkok, as well as JEATH War Museum, which hosts exhibits with many World War II artefacts and images. You’ll then make your way through sugar cane fields, rice paddies and pineapple plantations before delving into the jungle during your ride aboard the “Death Railway,” which was built by war prisoners to connect the Thai and Burmese railway lines.

Ayutthaya Guided Tour

TextOffered by The Trip Guru and Sightseeing Bangkok provides options for a guided tour of Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour will begin at Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, the summer home of Thai kings, before taking you through the ruins of ancient Ayutthaya, which you’ll explore under the direction of a tour guide who will recount Ayutthaya’s 417-year reign as the capital of Thailand. You’ll even have a chance to stop by the Floating Market and Elephant Village, as well as the Buddhist temples of Ayutthaya, where you’ll learn more about Thai Buddhism, the Khmer language and Sukhothai architecture.

Sightseeing Highlights Tour

For travellers with a tight schedule, A&F Tour offers a tour of the main attractions in Bangkok, including See Wat Pho, the Grand Palace, Chinatown and more, with an expert guide to accompany you along the way. The tour includes admission to each site of interest, so your time will be spent exploring and taking in the sights rather than queuing for tickets.

Ocean World Aquarium

For a more family-friendly activity, the best stop is SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World, which is home to more than 3,000 species of marine life and over 30,000 creatures from all over the world. The aquarium is split into seven parts: Deep Reef, Rain Forest, Weird and Wonderful, Rocky Shore, Open Ocean, Sea Jellies and Living Ocean. Most notably, the Open Ocean exhibit has a 270-degree glass tunnel that lets you walk alongside the aquarium’s fiercest predators, including ragged-tooth sharks, black-tipped sharks and stingrays. For visitors with a more adventurous side, you can even dive into the Open Ocean exhibit to swim alongside the resident sharks.

The aquarium has the most diverse and fascinating experiences surrounding marine life that go above and beyond – quite literally – to showcase what is hiding beneath our planet’s waters.

Calypso Cabaret

For a fun evening, the place to be is Calypso Cabaret. This wonderful performance has something for everyone, with acts ranging from traditional Thai dances and burlesque to stand-up comedy and celebrity impersonations. Calypso Cabaret truly encompasses the diverse culture of Bangkok, perfectly capturing its lively spirit. Let yourself be dazzled by the gowns, flashy headdresses and beautiful dances presented by the Cabaret’s talented performers as you enjoy this spectacular show.

River Cruise Dinner

For a unique dining experience, hop aboard a boat tour on the Chao Phraya River offered by Tour East. This tour will take you down the river, where you’ll sail past the Temple of Dawn, which will be beautifully lit in the evening, as well as the Grand Palace, with its unique rooflines. As you cruise down the river, you’ll enjoy a wide variety of Thai dishes and delicious desserts alongside cheerful music and entertainment to keep the evening lively.

Another important landmark in Bangkok is King Power Mahanakhon, Thailand’s tallest tower, which allows for a majestic bird’s eye view of the city from a glass observation deck 310 meters above the ground.
