Mindelo Joins the Global Ports Holding Network
Global Ports Holding (GPH), the world’s largest cruise port operator, has enthusiastically announced the addition of Mindelo Cruise Port, located on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde, to its ever-expanding network. This marks GPH’s second African port, following La Goulette Cruise Port in Tunisia, reaffirming the company’s commitment to developing strategic destinations on the continent.
The partnership with ENAPOR, the National Port Administration Company of Cape Verde, includes a development plan featuring the operational management of the terminal and consultancy aimed at optimizing services in accordance with international standards. The agreement, initially set for three and a half years with the possibility of a two-year extension, aims to strengthen infrastructure and enhance the passenger experience.

A key element of this collaboration is the Cruise Destination Development Program (CDDP), an initiative designed to increase Cape Verde’s tourism appeal. The program will focus on targeted marketing strategies, training for local operators, and sustainable tourism practices aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Strategically located along major Atlantic maritime routes, Mindelo Cruise Port serves as a critical hub for regional connectivity, complementing GPH’s ports in the Canary Islands. This development opens new opportunities for tourism and the local economy, encouraging greater passenger flows and reinforcing Cape Verde’s role as a premier international cruise destination.
Mehmet Kutman, Chairman and CEO of Global Ports Holding, expressed great satisfaction with the partnership, highlighting its importance in strengthening the company’s global cruise sector presence. Ireneu Camacho, Chairman and CEO of Cape Verde Ports, also emphasized the positive impact of the agreement, which will bring mutual benefits by improving port infrastructure and services, contributing to the growth of the cruise sector and the country’s economy.
