Alajmo and Crystal: High Italian Cuisine on Board

Crystal has announced a collaboration with renowned Italian brothers Massimiliano and Raffaele Alajmo, who will bring their culinary expertise aboard the company’s ships. This partnership will see the two brothers introduce a special menu at Osteria d’Ovidio, a new dining venue available on the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony ships.

Massimiliano Alajmo, recognized as the youngest chef in the world to receive three Michelin stars, and his brother Raffaele, maître d’ and co-owner of the Alajmo Group, have built an international reputation for their ability to blend tradition and innovation in Italian cuisine. Their flagship restaurant, Le Calandre, located in Padua, is a true culinary laboratory, where each dish celebrates the art of gastronomy. Le Calandre is one of 14 restaurants managed by the brothers, which span across Padua, Venice, Treviso, Cortina, Paris, and Marrakech.

The collaboration with Crystal is seen as a significant milestone in the Alajmos’ career. According to Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, the company is honored to work with Chef Massimiliano Alajmo and his brother Raffaele, highlighting how their culinary mastery aligns perfectly with the company’s vision of offering unparalleled dining experiences to its guests.

The menu designed by Alajmo for Osteria d’Ovidio will be unveiled in the coming months and promises to bring the essence of both traditional and innovative Italian cuisine aboard Crystal ships. Guests will have the opportunity to savor dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients, many of which come directly from Italy. This not only underscores Crystal’s commitment to quality but also enriches the culinary experience offered by the company, which boasts the only Nobu restaurant at sea, Umi Uma, and the Beefbar by Riccardo Giraudi, set to debut later this year.

In addition to the special dishes created for Osteria d’Ovidio, travelers will also be able to book land experiences at Alajmo’s restaurants, such as Le Calandre in Padua and Grancaffè & Ristorante Quadri in Venice, through shore excursions organized by the affiliated brand Abercrombie & Kent.

This new partnership is just the latest example of Crystal’s commitment to providing unique experiences to its passengers. Following the acquisition of the brand by A&K Travel Group in 2022, the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony ships have been completely revamped, featuring larger suites, cutting-edge wellness offerings, and meticulous attention to detail. Crystal continues to be a benchmark in the industry, offering travelers not only breathtaking itineraries but also a level of service that makes every passenger feel at home.

Massimiliano and Raffaele Alajmo, with their experience and passion for Italian cuisine, are now considered an integral part of this tradition of excellence. Chef Massimiliano Alajmo remarked that the opportunity to bring their passion for Italian food and hospitality to the sea with Crystal is extraordinary. He added that they believe in creating memorable experiences through food and that their dishes are crafted with the utmost care and dedication. Expressing excitement, he noted how thrilling it is to share their vision and bring their dishes to the guests of Crystal who will dine at Osteria d’Ovidio.

With this collaboration, Crystal not only reinforces its reputation as a leader in the luxury cruise sector but also redefines what it means to offer a gastronomic experience at sea. Guests aboard Crystal ships can expect not only a journey through the wonders of the world but also a voyage through the unique and unforgettable flavors of Italian cuisine crafted by Alajmo. This partnership is a sign of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest in every aspect of the journey.
