AmaWaterways: 2024 Records and 2025 News
Throughout 2024, AmaWaterways has achieved significant results, strengthening its position in the river cruise sector. Among the recognitions received is the “Best River Cruise” award from Cruise Critic.
AmaWaterways continues to develop new travel experiences and support its partners in the tourism sector. With a 31% increase in bookings compared to the previous year, 2025 anticipates an expansion with new ships, itineraries, and strategic partnerships, aiming to offer ever more complete and engaging travel solutions for its customers.
Next year, the company will introduce new cruises and destinations, expanding the range of available experiences. Among the main novelties, the Best of Danube will be an itinerary departing and returning to Budapest, visiting cities such as Bratislava and Vienna.

This route includes 15 departures in 2025 and 14 in 2026, including some off-season sailings in February and March aboard AmaMagna, followed by other ships in the fleet. The Danube, with its ancient history and stunning landscapes, remains one of the most sought-after destinations for travelers, and this new proposal aims to satisfy an audience seeking a deep and culturally rich experience.
Another offer concerns the Grand River Cruises, 14-night journeys that combine two seven-night itineraries, such as the Grand Seine & Rhône and the Grand Danube. This option allows passengers to visit various regions, cities, and villages across multiple countries, providing a more immersive experience into local traditions, gastronomy, and characteristic landscapes. This type of cruise represents a great opportunity for those who wish to experience a longer and more in-depth journey without sacrificing the comfort and exclusivity of AmaWaterways’ services.

The Douro will welcome the debut of AmaSintra, launching in April 2025. This new ship will offer the Enticing Douro itinerary, providing the opportunity to explore Portugal’s wine and cultural regions. The Douro is one of the most fascinating river destinations in Europe, with terraced vineyards and historic cities, and the launch of AmaSintra will further enrich the opportunities for discovery in this region.
The fleet expansion will also reach Colombia, with the launch of AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia, two ships designed to navigate the country’s rivers. AmaMelodia, with a capacity of 64 guests, and AmaMagdalena, with 60 seats, will offer seven-night itineraries, Magic of Colombia and Wonders of Colombia.

The proposed activities will include traditional celebrations such as the Barranquilla Carnival, live jazz performances, canoe excursions, and guided tours of historical and cultural sites. The introduction of these itineraries aims to highlight Colombia’s natural and cultural heritage, offering travelers an exclusive perspective on a lesser-explored river tourism destination.
In 2025, the company will continue to offer themed cruises dedicated to specific communities and cultural interests. Departures are already scheduled for Soulful Experience cruises, focusing on African American history and culture, and for Latin Touch, designed for the Spanish-speaking audience, with dates set for November and December. These journeys provide an opportunity to immerse in diverse cultures and traditions, with an offering that stands out for the quality of the proposed experiences and attention to detail.
