AmaWaterways: Innovative Stateroom Upgrade Program
AmaWaterways has launched a new and innovative Stateroom Upgrade program, offering travelers the opportunity to enhance their river cruise experience by upgrading to a higher cabin category.
With this program, on select cruises, guests can enhance their vacation by increasing their space and enjoying a better view, all through a simple and smooth process. After booking a river cruise, they can participate in an online auction system where they can request and bid for cabin upgrades.
Guests receive an email approximately 85 days before departure with details on available upgrade options. Based on these options, they can place bids up to 7 days before departure. By placing bids on different categories, they increase their chances of securing an upgrade, and only the accepted bid is charged. This makes the bidding process risk-free, especially considering that most AmaWaterways ships accommodate an average of only 150 guests.
When a bid is accepted, both the guests and their travel advisors are notified via email, and the upgrade fee is then charged. If no bid is accepted, guests retain their original cabin at no additional cost. This benefits both guests and travel advisors, as the latter have the opportunity to earn additional commissions, receiving 10% on accepted upgrades.
Following a highly successful trial run on AmaMagna, the program is now available to U.S. guests on all ships in Europe, Egypt, and the Mekong. To check if a cruise is available for an upgrade, guests should visit www.AmaWaterways.com/upgrade.
“By introducing this bidding process, we give our guests the chance to choose upgrades that best fit their desires and budget, ensuring a more personalized and memorable journey. This initiative reflects our commitment to continuously enhancing our offerings and meeting, if not exceeding, the expectations of our esteemed travelers“, said Kristin Karst, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of AmaWaterways.
In addition to the desire for a private balcony or the luxury of a suite, an AmaWaterways cruise offers refined dining, unlimited wine, beer, and soft drinks at lunch and dinner, a daily Sip & Sail cocktail hour, a daily variety of small-group excursions, high-quality Wi-Fi, and a complimentary wellness program in Europe and on the Mekong with a range of fitness classes and much more.
Investing in cabins within fleets is always a key element in enhancing guest comfort and is one of the components that most contributes to raising the overall service level of a cruise line. It is, therefore, an important project for maintaining the brand’s prestige.
