Cruise Saudi Joins FLEET: Commitment to Sustainability

Cruise Saudi, a major Arabian cruise company, has announced its participation in the FLEET research consortium, marking a significant advancement in its journey towards environmental sustainability.

The FLEET consortium, established by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and the Oil Sustainability Program (OSP), aims to enhance economic and environmental competitiveness in the aviation, road, and maritime transport sectors.

FLEET, which stands for “Fuels, Lubricants, and Efficient Engine Technologies” was created to unite key players in the energy and transport sectors, both nationally and internationally, with the goal of developing more sustainable energy solutions. Cruise Saudi’s membership in this consortium represents an important step towards creating cost-effective and environmentally friendly technologies.

Dr. Ahmed Alsaggaf, Executive Director of Sustainability and Innovation at Cruise Saudi, expressed his enthusiasm for this new collaboration, highlighting that sustainability and innovation are at the heart of the company’s activities. The constant pursuit of innovative practices that promote sustainability, not only through carbon reduction but throughout the entire cruise industry supply chain that Cruise Saudi is developing in Saudi Arabia, is a key focus.

Alsaggaf is excited to participate in the significant research that King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is conducting to improve sustainable energy in the maritime sector and beyond. This is a new and exciting chapter for both Cruise Saudi and Saudi Arabia as a whole, committed to a more sustainable future.

With this membership, Cruise Saudi joins other private companies in the energy and transport sectors, strengthening collaboration with KAUST’s Clean Combustion Research Center. This center is dedicated to developing advanced technologies aimed at reducing the environmental impact of transport and energy activities, thereby contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

Cruise Saudi, wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund, continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to promoting sustainability and innovation, playing a key role in transforming the cruise industry in Saudi Arabia.
