Viking unveiled six new itineraries in Asia, expanding the brand’s exclusive access to destinations in China and Japan, including Tibet (Xizang).

These new voyages, ranging from 15 to 22 days, will offer guests immersive cultural experiences from September 2025 to November 2025 aboard the Viking Yi Dun, in cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Xi’an, and Osaka, alongside lesser-visited ports accessible only through Viking.

Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking, expressed his excitement about the expansion: “We are proud to open our second season of these unique itineraries featuring exploration of the China coast—something that is entirely exclusive to Viking. For centuries, these phenomenal destinations in Asia have inspired travellers with ancient history and rich culture. Our guests are curious travellers who travel as a way to broaden their minds, and we look forward to introducing more of Asia to them in 2025”.

To further immerse guests in Asia’s rich culture and history, Viking is offering an array of pre- and post-land extensions for its 2025 China itineraries. These curated options provide deeper insight into the destinations explored on the voyages.

In Beijing guests can immerse themselves in the heart of one of the world’s most historic capitals, home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Guests can explore the iconic Forbidden City, walk along the Great Wall of China, and discover Beijing’s unique juxtaposition of ancient history and innovative modernity. Optional excursions provide even more opportunities to experience this city’s multi-layered past and ambitious future. In Hong Kong, one of the world’s most vibrant metropolises with its vibrant mix of tradition and modernity, with a three-night extension, guests can enjoy the stunning skyline, lively markets, and cultural landmarks, including Victoria Peak and the Man Mo Temple. An optional excursion to nearby Macau offers a chance to experience a fusion of Portuguese and Chinese cultures on the southern coast.

In Hong Kong & Guilin, an extension that contrasts the urban vibrancy of Hong Kong with the serene natural beauty of Guilin, guests can explore Hong Kong’s towering skyscrapers and energetic atmosphere before being captivated by Guilin’s karst mountains, tranquil rivers, and ancient caves. This combination presents two quite different yet quintessential Chinese experiences. The extension Spirit of Mongolia invites guests to explore the vast landscapes of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert. Travelers will stay in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, where modern life meets ancient nomadic traditions. At a desert lodge, they will enjoy curated activities such as camel trekking and archery, while learning about Mongolia’s deep-rooted cultural heritage. Finally in Tokyo guests can wander through Zen-like gardens and Shinto shrines while exploring modern wonders like Shibuya Crossing. Towering over all of it is Mt. Fuji, offering a striking backdrop to the vibrant cityscape.

Each extension offers a unique opportunity to deepen travellers’ cultural understanding, allowing them to savour the rich history, traditions, and landscapes of the region before or after their voyage.
