Anglo-Eastern Expands Its Presence in Cruise Sector

Anglo-Eastern, a global leader in innovative solutions and independent ship management services, has inaugurated a new LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) / Ammonia bunkering station at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) in Karjat, Mumbai.

The bunkering station is designed to provide hands-on training on the safe and efficient fueling of vessels powered by LNG and ammonia. This state-of-the-art facility plays a crucial role in advancing maritime safety standards and environmental goals, offering real-world experiences for industry professionals working with these types of fuels.

Equipped with the latest cryogenic refueling technologies and safety systems, the bunkering station provides a controlled environment for training in LNG and ammonia transfer operations, emergency response procedures, and regulatory compliance. Designed to replicate real-world bunkering operations, this facility offers the education and skill development needed for professionals working in the rapidly growing alternative fuels sector.

This cutting-edge bunkering station is the latest addition to the dual-fuel excellence center at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy and was inaugurated by Alexander Saverys, CEO of CMB.TECH, on February 20th. During the inauguration, Mr. Saverys raised a toast to “the future of navigation,” emphasizing the need to involve more companies in similar initiatives to ensure the development of a qualified talent pool to meet the net-zero emissions goals by 2050.

The training program utilizing the new bunkering station offers training not only for seafarers but also for shore-based stakeholders, positioning them to better support their onboard teams. Anglo-Eastern is strongly committed to supporting the maritime industry’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve operational safety. The company’s investment in training demonstrates its ongoing commitment to innovation, safety, and environmental responsibility.

During the same week, a new ME GI training facility was inaugurated at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre (AEMTC Mumbai), further enhancing the Anglo-Eastern MAN PrimeServ training center. This new facility, designed for Mk 2 ME GI engines, demonstrates key aspects of engine operations, allowing course participants to learn the correct procedures for the safe maintenance and operation of ME GI engines onboard. This further strengthens Anglo-Eastern’s partnership with MAN Energy Solutions through the PrimeServ Academy, which originated from a cooperation agreement to launch training courses for MAN B&W engines in Mumbai in 2003.

Recently, Anglo-Eastern Univan Group also announced a series of significant developments, including the relocation of its office to Miami and two important executive appointments. These changes are part of the company’s strategy to further strengthen its position in the cruise sector and better serve clients globally.

In 2022, the company acquired the Cruise Management International Group, fully integrating it into Anglo-Eastern’s ecosystem. Following this acquisition, Anglo-Eastern Cruise Management Inc. (AECMI) and Anglo-Eastern Leisure Management (AELM) are now operating as a unified entity, ready to address the challenges of the cruise market. With this consolidation, the group has completed an important internal knowledge and expertise transfer process, positioning itself as a stronger player in the sector.

Another significant step in its expansion is the relocation of its Miami office, now situated in a modern space in the Blue Lagoon area, just a short distance from the airport. This strategic move reinforces Anglo-Eastern’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Miami, which serves as a key hub for its cruise and leisure management services. The new office acts as an operational center and promotes a collaborative environment that reflects Anglo-Eastern’s global identity, with a focus on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and optimized support for cruise line partners.

In conjunction with the office relocation, Anglo-Eastern also announced two key appointments in the cruise sector. Neil McNeil has been appointed Managing Director of AECMI, while Frits van der Werff, a former executive in the cruise and hospitality sectors, has been appointed Vice President Commercial for Anglo-Eastern’s cruise and leisure division.

With these moves, Anglo-Eastern is poised to continue its growth journey and meet the challenges of an ever-evolving market.
