Costa Fortuna: the new itinerary for Greece and Turkey

For the summer season of 2024, Costa Cruises will offer weekly itineraries allowing exploration of Athens, Istanbul, and the most fascinating Greek islands in a single vacation. Guests aboard Costa Fortuna will have the opportunity to experience Sea Destinations: new places to discover while sailing through exceptional and unique experiences.

The new itinerary of Costa Fortuna was inaugurated on June 7 in Athens, offering a combination of beautiful tourist destinations such as Greece and Turkey. Until September 13, the ship will depart every Friday from the port of Piraeus, taking its guests to discover Istanbul and the enchanting Greek islands of Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes, and Santorini. On selected dates, the cruise will include a second stop in Turkey, at Bodrum, or on the Greek island of Kos, replacing Rhodes.

To make the experience even more convenient and accessible to everyone, Costa Cruises offers a “flight+cruise” package, available from major European airports, including Italy. This package allows exploring historical destinations, archaeological sites, nature reserves, and beaches with crystal-clear waters without the slightest stress.

For this season, the itinerary of Costa Fortuna introduces the innovative concept of “Sea Destinations“: unique experiences available exclusively aboard the ship, allowing guests to immerse themselves in local cultures even while sailing. Among the most suggestive events is the crossing of the Dardanelles Strait at sunset, enriched by the spectacular dance of the dervishes, offering an authentic mystical journey.

In Mykonos, the energy of Greek nights will transfer to the ship with a sea party by the pool, where famous DJs will play until late at night. In Santorini, guests can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, sipping their favorite aperitif while admiring the breathtaking view offered by the city.

Costa Fortuna does not only offer experiences on board. Thanks to organized excursions, the “land” destinations will be explored from unique perspectives. In Athens, for example, in addition to the classic historical sites, it will be possible to sail along the Corinth Canal. Istanbul will be explored by boat on the Bosphorus, while in Mykonos a local family will introduce guests to the island’s traditions and cuisine with a sunset barbecue.

In Bodrum, visitors can discover the turquoise coast aboard a gulet, a typical local boat. In Santorini, the experience will be authentic: guests will live like islanders among blue domes and white houses, with a lunch enriched by the traditional plate smashing.

Costa Fortuna, the Italian-flagged ship of the Costa Cruises fleet, can accommodate up to 3,470 guests in its 1,358 cabins. The interiors, inspired by the great ocean liners of the past, evoke the elegance of the roaring twenties, with authentic reproductions of vintage advertising posters.

The gastronomic excellence on board is represented by the Destination Dish, dishes created by international chefs such as Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze, and Ángel León, interpreting the flavors of the visited destinations. These dishes are available in the ship’s main restaurants and included in the cruise price. Additionally, the ship offers other culinary options such as Pizzeria Pummid’oro, the sushi bistro Sushino at Costa, the street food of Salty Beach, and the Gelateria Amarillo.

On board, entertainment is ensured by the three-deck theater with exciting shows, 3 pools, 5 jacuzzis, a toboggan, a multi-sports court, a 1,300 sqm sea-view spa, and a gym equipped with Technogym machines. For the younger guests, the Squok Club and Teen Zone offer dedicated areas and fun activities.

Costa Fortuna thus promises an unforgettable summer, combining the adventure of exploration with the comfort and entertainment of a cruise.
