Oceania: Two New Members Join the Culinary Team
Oceania Cruises has appointed the first two members of its Culinary Advisory Board: Sara Moulton, chef, cookbook author, and television personality, and Kathryn Kelly, Executive Chef at Oceania Cruises and Director of Culinary Enrichment.
The two chefs will collaborate with the co-chairs of the board: Master Chef Jacques Pépin, chef and television personality Giada De Laurentiis, and two Master Chefs and Executive Culinary Directors, Alex Quaretti and Eric Barale, becoming an integral part of Oceania Cruises‘ talented culinary team.
Chef Kathryn Kelly is the founder and driving force behind The Culinary Center, the first hands-on cooking school at sea, which debuted in 2011 with the launch of Oceania Cruises’ Marina. Thanks to Chef Kelly and her talented team, Oceania Cruises guests can spend a day at sea learning the secrets of seafood preparation or honing their knife skills at The Culinary Center. Additionally, Chef Kelly played a pivotal role in developing and launching the Culinary Discovery Tours, immersive excursions led by talented chefs where guests can deepen their understanding of the culture and history of destinations through food. These experiences often include cooking activities onboard, using local ingredients purchased at nearby markets.
Chef Moulton, a cookbook author also known for filming two seasons of her television show Sara’s Weeknight Meals aboard Oceania Cruises ships, has long shared her passion through cooking demonstrations, offering recipes for some of her favorite dishes served onboard, and participating in food-focused shore excursions as a special guest.
The two chefs will work together to further enhance and enrich Oceania Cruises’ culinary enrichment program, aligning with the efforts of chefs Alex Quaretti and Eric Barale as they prepare for the addition of Vista’s sister ship, Allura, in 2025, followed by two new Quattro-class ships in 2027 and 2028.
Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises, welcomed the two new members to the Culinary Advisory Board, highlighting that both are ready to inspire people to discover new passions and explore the world through the lens of gastronomy. Executive Culinary Director Chef Alex Quaretti added that Oceania Cruises is a company built by food lovers, run by food lovers, for food lovers, with a mission that goes beyond serving wonderful dishes at gourmet restaurants across the fleet. The goal is to help guests broaden their horizons through food, which has the power to bring people together.
