Wilderness: discover Rwanda with safari and adventures
Wilderness expands its offerings with the launch of Wilderness Magashi Peninsula, an exclusive luxury lodge set to open its doors in September 2025.
Located on the private Magashi Peninsula within the Akagera National Park, this new facility will provide an immersive safari experience, blending comfort, adventure, and a commitment to environmental conservation.
The Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only sanctuary for savannah species and the largest protected wetland in Central Africa, offers an extraordinary natural setting. With ten different habitats, including open plains, forests, lakes, and rolling hills, the area guarantees exceptional wildlife spotting opportunities.
Visitors will have the chance to observe lions, rhinos, elephants, and many other iconic species up close, while contributing to their protection. The privileged location of the Magashi Peninsula will allow exclusive access to these natural wonders, offering guests an intimate and personalized experience away from tourist crowds.

The Wilderness Magashi Peninsula will stand out for its exclusive hospitality, with a camp composed of eight beds, including a four-bed villa and two twin suites located at a distance to ensure privacy. Each accommodation will be equipped with a private pool and offer spectacular views of the local wildlife.
The experiences offered will include bespoke private dinners, evenings around the fire, personalized wellness treatments, and exclusive guided tours. For adventure lovers, panoramic cruises, catch-and-release fishing, night safaris, and the opportunity to sleep under the stars in the picturesque Star Beds will be available.
Moreover, due to its proximity to the Volcanoes National Park, guests will have the opportunity to combine the safari experience with mountain gorilla trekking, creating a unique journey in the heart of Rwanda.
The lodge will not only offer a luxury experience immersed in nature, but will also embrace a sustainable and responsible approach. The entire property will be solar-powered and will collaborate with the Akagera Management Company to support conservation initiatives such as predator monitoring and invasive species management.

Additionally, the project will be strongly rooted in the local community, with a design inspired by Rwandan traditions and the employment of local labor, promoting economic development and the enhancement of local skills. Through awareness-raising activities and educational programs, the lodge is committed to strengthening the bond between tourism and the community, encouraging sustainable and inclusive growth for future generations.
The opening of the Wilderness Magashi Peninsula marks another step forward in Wilderness Rwanda’s commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable tourism. Offering a unique and immersive experience, the lodge aims to be a symbol of harmony between luxury, nature, and conservation, ensuring guests an unforgettable stay in the wild heart of Africa.
Thanks to a balance between modern comfort and respect for the ecosystem, the Magashi Peninsula represents an extraordinary opportunity to discover the authentic charm of Rwanda’s savannah, while contributing to its protection and preservation.
