Crystal: Order for Two New Ships from Fincantieri

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Crystal Cruises and Fincantieri for the construction of two new revolutionary Ocean ships has been signed.

The fundamental footprint of the project will feature interior design with fine marbles, natural materials, and exquisite fabrics, reaching a level of sophistication comparable to luxurious residential properties. This project of comfort and series of services will be curated by renowned Italian architectural firms Studio Ibsen and Studio Gem, along with an international design firm yet to be selected.

“This order not only highlights the robust recovery of the cruise sector, in line with our Industrial Plan, but also reaffirms Fincantieri’s leadership, thanks to the excellence of our shipyards and the quality of our world-class supply chain,” said Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Crystal in our pursuit of innovation and excellence, under the guidance of a shipowner who has always been close to our Group, such as Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio.”

The delivery of the first ship is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028, with a capacity of 690 passengers (double occupancy) and a gross tonnage of 61,800 tons. A fundamental service will be the spa with a state-of-the-art fitness area, as for Crystal, wellness and relaxation must be accessible to all guests. There will also be a dedicated children’s area, designed with safe spaces, and especially the promenade that will extend along the entire perimeter of the ships, similar to those loved by guests of Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, offering breathtaking ocean views.

“This agreement represents another milestone in the 40 years of productive collaboration between Fincantieri and my family, which began with Sitmar Cruises, continued with Silversea, and now has flourished with Crystal,” said Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Executive Chairman of A&K Travel Group. Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, added: “Our goal is to continue setting a new standard in cruising, offering our guests an unparalleled level of service and sophistication. These new ships will receive the same level of attention that I devote to my own home.”

The announcement comes two years after A&K Travel Group acquired Crystal in 2022, marking a new era for the cruise company and raising the standard for refined and personalized travel experiences. With this new leadership, Crystal has focused on enhancing its offerings both at sea and on land, aiming to expand its fleet and provide unprecedented experiences for its guests.

Onboard, comfort will be maximized with all accommodations being suites with private verandas, and the option of a single occupancy category (also with a veranda) for solo adventure enthusiasts. Guests will be delighted by a diverse world-class cuisine, including Umi Uma and the Beefbar, as well as the unique culinary experience of Michelin-starred chef Nobuyuki (Nobu) at sea. The casino will set the scene for these chic environments with a wide range of games. All this will be wrapped in personalized service, with attention to detail guaranteed by one of the highest crew-to-passenger ratios in this segment.

The construction and delivery timeline for the second ship will be announced at a later date. Additionally, Crystal has hinted at the possibility of constructing a third sister ship, scheduled for delivery in 2032.
