MEYER WERFT, the prestigious shipyard in Papenburg, has signed a historic agreement with Disney Cruise Line, marking the largest contract in the company’s history. Bernard Meyer has officially signed the contract for the construction of four new cruise ships, which will be delivered between 2027 and 2031. This order represents the highest contract value ever received by MEYER WERFT.

The new Disney Cruise Line ships, which will continue to be at the forefront of sustainability and innovation, will provide the ideal environment for multi-generational family vacations. Each ship will feature a selection of famous Disney characters and will offer top-quality dining and entertainment experiences, perfectly in line with Disney’s philosophy. Details regarding the design, names, and routes of the new ships are still being finalized.

Bernard Meyer expressed enthusiasm for continuing the long and successful partnership with Disney Cruise Line and for building four extraordinary ships in the next seven years, emphasizing that this success is made possible by the strong ties with Disney. He also noted that, currently, eight ships for Disney Cruise Line are in MEYER WERFT’s order books, reflecting confidence in the company’s capabilities and the hard work of the entire team.

Thomas Mazloum, President of New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences, highlighted that Disney cruise ships are considered true ambassadors of the Disney brands and are loved by families around the world. He expressed excitement about the new collaboration with Meyer Werft, which represents an ambitious and unprecedented expansion for Disney Cruise Line.

The partnership between MEYER WERFT and Disney Cruise Line began with the construction of the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy ships, delivered in 2010 and 2012. In 2022, the company delivered the Disney Wish, the first ship of the Wish class. Currently, the sister ships Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny are under construction in Papenburg and will be delivered in 2024 and 2025.

Bernard Meyer emphasized that these new orders represent a positive signal for the future of employment in Papenburg, expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to continue building innovative and high-quality ships for Disney Cruise Line. He added that, with these new orders, MEYER WERFT’s order book now includes ten cruise ships, one research vessel, and the construction of four offshore converter platforms, extending until 2031.

Meyer also highlighted that the total value of the orders exceeds 11 billion euros and that, with an export rate of 95%, the company is developing positively compared to the current trend in Germany. He concluded by emphasizing that these orders represent a significant opportunity for prosperity and tax revenue for the country.
