35 Years of Crystal: a Dream Itinerary

To mark its 35th anniversary, Crystal Cruises is offering an exclusive journey aboard the luxurious Crystal Symphony, one of the company’s crown jewels, renowned for its impeccable service, elegant accommodations, and tailor-made onboard experiences.

This special itinerary, departing on June 4, 2025, from Tarragona (Barcelona) and arriving in Civitavecchia (Rome) on June 13, 2025, offers a unique opportunity to explore some of the most captivating destinations in the Mediterranean.

Making this cruise even more memorable is the presence of distinguished guests such as Geoffrey Kent, founder and chairman emeritus of Abercrombie & Kent, former captains John Økland and Helge Brudvik, and former cruise director Paul McFarland. Onboard, travelers will also have the chance to attend exclusive events, including a gala evening to celebrate the company’s prestigious milestone.

The itinerary begins in the historic city of Tarragona, a gem of the Costa Dorada, where guests can explore the wonders of ancient Tarraco, a UNESCO site preserving extraordinary Roman ruins. Here, Crystal Cruises offers guided excursions through the majestic amphitheater, the aqueduct, and the Roman Forum, allowing travelers to fully immerse themselves in the charm of the past.

After departing from the Spanish coast, the ship will reach Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands. This enchanting city, famous for its imposing Cathedral of Santa Maria and charming streets, will be the starting point for unique experiences, such as private tours exploring the historic center and food and wine itineraries to savor the local culinary tradition.

Continuing the exploration of the archipelago, Crystal Symphony will dock in Mahón, on the island of Minorca. Here, passengers can admire one of the world’s largest and most spectacular natural harbors, while excursions will offer the opportunity to visit historic local wineries and sample the famous Minorcan cheeses. For nature lovers, trekking and scenic walks along the breathtaking cliffs surrounding the city are available.

From Spain, the cruise route will shift towards the picturesque Italian coast, stopping in La Spezia, specifically in Cinque Terre. This Ligurian marvel, with its five villages nestled between sea and mountains, will be the setting for scenic excursions, wine tastings, and hiking trails along the famous coastal paths, offering travelers an authentic and immersive experience.

The itinerary will continue with a stop in Livorno, a perfect docking point for exploring the nearby cities of Pisa and Florence. Guided excursions will allow visitors to admire the Leaning Tower, Florence Cathedral, the Uffizi Gallery, and many other artistic wonders of Tuscany. For gourmet enthusiasts, Crystal Cruises also organizes exclusive tours through the Tuscan countryside, including visits to renowned vineyards and tastings of fine wines.

After this immersion in history and art, the cruise will set course for Porto Santo Stefano, a paradisiacal retreat on the Tuscan coast. Guests can join boat trips in the crystal-clear waters of the Argentario, explore the surrounding medieval villages, and savor typical seafood dishes.

Finally, the last stop of the journey will be Civitavecchia, the gateway to the Eternal City. Here, passengers will have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of excursions, including visits to Rome’s iconic landmarks, such as the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Trevi Fountain, as well as food and wine tours through historic markets, ensuring an authentic Roman experience to conclude the trip.
