Clipper Stad Amsterdam: Between Oceans & Continents

The Clipper Stad Amsterdam has embarked on an exciting and adventure-filled start to 2025. Crossing the equator on January 7th officially marked the ship’s transition from the Northern to the Southern Hemisphere, an event celebrated in true maritime tradition with a touch of humor.

From that moment on, the crew sailed through uncharted waters, reaching the island of Mauritius and preparing for the challenging journey around the Cape of Good Hope. After this adventurous phase, the Clipper is now ready to offer more luxurious and relaxing sailing experiences, with itineraries to some of the world’s most captivating destinations.

Following the equator crossing, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam continued its voyage to Mauritius, a significant milestone marking the conclusion of its crossing from the Maldives archipelago. Here, the crew had the opportunity to rest and prepare for the next leg of their journey.

With its course set toward the Cape of Good Hope, the ship faced one of the most demanding stretches of its circumnavigation. After weeks at sea, the Clipper finally arrived in Cape Town in early February, welcoming new guests for exclusive corporate events. During this stopover, the crew made the final preparations for yet another extraordinary ocean crossing—an impressive voyage from the South African coast to the Caribbean.

With the arrival of spring, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam transforms from an exploration vessel into a symbol of luxury and refinement. On April 15th, passengers will be welcomed aboard in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, with an unforgettable welcome dinner. From there, the ship will set sail toward the breathtaking British Virgin Islands and Saint Barthélemy, offering an exclusive sailing experience.

Over ten days, guests will enjoy a journey of relaxation and discovery. Stops include Jost van Dyke, known for its pristine beaches; Norman Island; Cooper Island; and Savannah Beach on Virgin Gorda, all perfect locations for unwinding and immersing in nature. The itinerary continues with a sail to Gorda Sound and an island tour of Virgin Gorda before heading to Saint Barthélemy. Here, guests can explore Gustavia and soak in the island’s exclusive atmosphere before concluding the voyage with an unforgettable sunset at Anse Colombier.

After an incredible Caribbean experience, the Clipper embarks on a new journey along the East Coast of the United States. During this time, the ship will visit several iconic cities, giving passengers the opportunity to explore stunning urban and maritime landscapes. This route offers the perfect balance of adventure and culture, with stops in historic cities and exclusive onboard experiences.

On July 1st, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam will depart from the port of Boston, setting sail on one of its most captivating adventures: a transatlantic crossing of over 2,100 nautical miles to the stunning Azores. Sailing in open waters is a truly extraordinary experience. The North Atlantic offers ever-changing scenery, with the sky shifting from brilliant turquoise to golden hues at sunset. The summer weather conditions make for a pleasant voyage. While winds and currents may occasionally be felt, the climate remains generally mild, with temperatures ranging between 15°C and 25°C (59°F–77°F).

One of the most enchanting aspects of this route is the encounter with the ocean’s wild nature. It’s not uncommon to see dolphins playing in the waves beside the ship or seabirds such as albatrosses and gannets gracefully soaring above the Clipper.

After days of sailing through the boundless blue of the Atlantic, arriving in the Azores is a moment of pure wonder. Here, a group of young sailors will join the crew for the second part of the journey, heading toward Brest, France. This leg is not just a geographical voyage but also a profound learning experience. The Clipper Stad Amsterdam continues to be both a school of the sea and of life, offering young people the chance to master the art of sailing and strengthen their teamwork skills.

The journey will culminate with one of the most spectacular maritime events of the year: Sail Amsterdam. In August 2025, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam will lead the majestic Sail In parade, guiding a fleet of historic tall ships into the port of Amsterdam. This event will mark the grand conclusion of the ship’s world tour in a truly unforgettable way, celebrating the epic voyage that has taken the Clipper across oceans and continents.

2025 promises to be an extraordinary year for the Clipper Stad Amsterdam, which has already experienced unforgettable moments in its first months and will continue to offer unique experiences in the months to come. From high-seas adventures to luxurious Caribbean cruises, all the way to the grand celebration in Amsterdam, this ship remains a symbol of exploration, elegance, and passion for the sea.
