Coral Expeditions: Winter in Wallis and Fotuna

Australian company Coral Expeditions announces its new winter expedition voyage to Wallis and Fotuna.

This December, Coral Adventurer will set sail from Cairns, Australia on an inaugural 21-night expedition voyage to the remote islands of Wallis and Futuna, located in the middle of the South Pacific.

In celebration of the Christmas festivities and in anticipation of the arrival of the New Year, Coral Expeditions‘ clients will have the unique opportunity to set foot on these stunning volcanic islands with their paradisiacal landscapes and extraordinary cultural mixes. In fact, this archipelago, now a territory of the French Overseas Protectorate was an important stopping point for English and Dutch explorers, French missionaries and a hub for the even more ancient Fijian and Samoan merchant trade.

In fact, to maximise the experience of the expedition, the captain and expedition leader will survey conditions along the way and land on rarely visited islands such as the historic Luganville and the lush Pentecost Island in Vanuatu.

When you are not on board immersed in the intimate and exclusive atmosphere of this ship of only 60 cabins, you will visit the famous Polynesian thatched houses, enjoy the kava drink and many other activities to immerse yourself in the local culture. An important stop on the expedition is certainly Niue, one of the largest coral atolls in the world.

The expedition will end in Auckland, New Zealand after crossing the International Date Line, the imaginary line where the new day is ‘born’.
