Scenic Cruises ultra-luxury Antarctic program 2022/23

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has presented its new calendar for ultra-luxury polar expeditions to the Antarctic. Among the new features is the possibility to ski in the Antarctic, to take part in submarine experiences in South Georgia and to discover the Weddell Sea.

The Scenic Eclipse continues to be reconfirmed as the point of reference for ultra-luxury expedition cruises and has launched its 2022/23 cruise schedule discovering the Antarctic and South America. Every itinerary was selected with the goal of enriching the sense of discovery and offering guests an unrivaled immersion into this remote region.

Lisa Bolton, General Manager of Product for Scenic Cruises, commented: “Our first season in Antarctic waters was a resounding success and we knew we would continue bringing innovations to our 2022/23 program. The design and first class characteristics of the Scenic Eclipse allows us to give our guests highly personalized experiences and offer a full immersion in the destination. Our two helicopters and the submarine on board offer guests the opportunity to take part in flights landing on a glacier, to ski in Antarctica and even submarine experiences in South Georgia.”

The strengths of the new 2022/23 program:

We have launched a new 16-day trip to the Weddell Sea where guests can enjoy 24 hours of daylight during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Guests will be able to listen to the calls of the Weddell seals that are audible even several kilometers away as they paddle in a kayak. They can get close to extraordinary glaciers during a ride in the Zodiac boat or practicing stand up paddling, one of the most popular sports for those who love the water. It will also be possible to see large and lively colonies of penguins and seals or spot whales offshore.

The Scenic Eclipse helicopter excursions have been increased to also include landing on the ice, and then after doing so guests can head even further for a deeper exploration of the extraordinary Antarctic landscape. Those with an even more adventurous spirit will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to ski the slopes of Antarctica, as the helicopters are able to take those who wish to the top of the mountain to ski down.

The Scenic Eclipse submarine, the Scenic Neptune, is the first submarine authorized to operate in the waters of South Georgia. Guests will embark on an underwater discovery up to 300 meters below the surface, in total comfort, with 270 degree views and extraordinary photography opportunities.

Scenic Cruises also added three new 8-day itineraries, for a maximum of 20 people, which combine the cruise with activities on land.

Glaciers & Wilderness – a new tour in Argentine Patagonia which starts in El Calafate and ends in El Chaltén. Guests will admire the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier, and the majestic native wildlife and stay in the region’s most picturesque accommodations. This tour can be combined with a cruise such as 13-day deep Antarctica, 20-day Antarctica, South Georgia and Falkland Islands or 14-day Chilean fjords and Cape Horn.

Wild Landscapes of Atacama – a new Chilean tour, which starts and ends in Santiago. The goal is to explore Chile, from its vibrant and cosmopolitan capital to the driest non-polar place on the planet. Guests will enjoy accommodations at the Explore Atacama. This tour can be combined with the 14-day Chilean fjords and Cape Horn or the 11-day Latin American Delights.

Icons of Peru – a luxury trip that explores Peru, starting and ending in Cuzco. Guests will stay at the Valle Sagrado, taking the fantastic Belmond Hiram Bingham train to and from Machu Picchu, and will stay at Belmond hotels while in Machu Picchu and Cuzco. This tour can be added to the 11-day Latin American Delights or the 11-day Peru to Panama: along the Andean coast.

All the trips are all-inclusive, which means that all the flights, land excursions, meals with a maximum of 10 culinary experiences, premium beverages and even the in-room minibar are included. A team of experts is on board to guide the Scenic Discovery excursions. Expedition parkas, water bottles and polar boots are available free of charge for all the guests while in the Polar Regions.
