Seatrade: Qatar Tourism presents its new projects

Qatar Tourism has announced its participation in the 35th edition of Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami to outline the peninsula’s major new tourism projects and the cruise terminal currently under construction.

The Grand Cruise Terminal will be capable of accommodating two Mega Ships at the same time and offer various attractions including an aquarium and an art gallery. This will be located in the centre of Doha near the Museum of Islamic Art and Souq Waqif, offering passengers a spectacular view of the West Bay skyline.

Qatar Tourism will also highlight all the new and unfamiliar experiences that US travellers will find when they travel to Qatar. An exciting calendar of events is underway as the country prepares to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

Qatar Tourism’s Chief Operating Officer, Berthold Trenkel, said, “We are continuing to expand our tourism portfolio and are excited to introduce guests to the best of Qatar’s hospitality. In 2019, 190,000 cruise passengers visited our destination, and among them more than 5,000 were US travellers.

“The US market is an increasingly important market for our inbound tourism and we want to raise awareness about the vast developments that are underway and present the best of Qatar to visitors from around the world.”

Qatar Tourism, the official government body responsible for developing and promoting tourism in Qatar has already launched new hotels, theme parks, football stadiums and restaurants over the past 18 months with the aim of welcoming six million visitors a year by 2030. It has also introduced the Visit Qatar mobile app as part of its digital transformation strategy.

In addition, Qatar has been ranked as the third safest country in the world by Global Finance this year, mainly due to its management and prevention of Covid-19 outbreaks.
