SH Vega: Arctic inaugural season kicks off
SH Vega, Swan Hellenic‘s second ice-class cultural expedition cruise ship, has set sail from Tromsø, Norway, for her first Arctic cruise, on an 11-day exploration of the Svalbard archipelago.
Guests aboard SH Vega will be able to explore remote and generally inaccessible areas of the Svalbard archipelago, gaining a deeper experience of its fascinating mountains, glaciers and fjords, unique flora and many seabirds and mammals. Each encounter will gain additional depth through on-board talks and the presence and active involvement of world experts.
SH Vega is sailing in the capable hands of veteran captain Tuomo Leskinen and hotel manager Philipp Reutener, who created the acclaimed Swan Hellenic on-board experience on SH Minerva.
Executive Chef Avhier Singh, brings to life the various menus of daily curated delicacies that include original Italian and Asian fusion dishes created by award-winning Chef Consultants Andrea Ribaldone and Sang Keun Oh.
Swan Hellenic CEO Andrea Zito commented, “We are proud to bring our exclusive cultural expedition cruises to the Arctic for the first time, welcoming Swan Hellenic enthusiasts new and old aboard our elegant second new ship to see what others do not see. Amazed by the comfort and its innovative and elegant design, they will soon realize that everything is actually focused on fully experiencing the wonderful world outside. We know they will love it, and we can’t wait to see the proof on their faces!”
Departing again from Tromsø on July 30, SH Vega‘s inaugural season will see her continue to explore the magic of the Arctic. In the fall, she will make her way along the East Coast of the United States. From November, she will offer a range of cultural expedition cruises to Antarctica until March 2023, when she will sail the west coast of Africa to the Canary Islands and Western Europe on her way to her second Arctic season. It will end with a crossing from Greenland to Nova Scotia, followed by the Caribbean and then Brazil in October 2023.
