To launch its Extraordinary 2023 World Cruise, Silversea Presents “South Side Story: All The World’s A Stage”

When Silversea announced the most unique itinerary ever sailed on a World Cruise, the luxury cruise line pulled out all the stops.  In a spectacular 27-minute production, Fernando Barroso de Oliveira, in his role as Silversea’s President’s Ambassador to The Venetian Society, the line’s loyalty program, literally took his audience around the world. The cinematic production was a triumph involving over 50 professionals working for 5 weeks around the clock.  The actual filming took an entire week.  18 different sets culled down from over 3000 options were displayed behind the charming Fernando.  His wardrobe for the production was so extensive that he traveled with no fewer than 7 suitcases. More than 8 hours of footage was edited down to the final version: An extraordinarily detailed look at what Silversea guests will experience once they set sail on the 139-day voyage.

An Itinerary unlike any other

Silversea has long triumphed in the incredible array of its ports of call—over 900 stretched over all 7 continents.  This cruise picks 66 specially selected destinations in 34 countries across five continents.  Its starting point, on January 9^th 2023, is Sydney, Australia.  From there, Silver Shadow will sail to 40 destinations that have not been visited on Silversea’s recent World Cruise Itineraries. There will be 20 overnight calls in 17 cities. “South Side Story” chronicles the 10 exclusive events planned ashore—five of which are only available to world-cruising guests., Fernando Barroso de Oliviera introduces the itinerary in 8 “Acts”. Guests will see the World in depth on Silversea’s 2023 World Cruise

Last Fall, Silversea became more all-inclusive than ever.  Now travelers on every single voyage will enjoy at least one complimentary shore excursion at every port of call.  Silversea’s offerings are already among the most comprehensive in the world of cruising.  Its cruise fares include round-trip airfare and transfers which represent unprecedented value to its guests. City afficionados will revel in overnight stays in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City in Asia, Capetown and Dakar in Africa. The Gulf of Bengal and the Indian Ocean will feature opportunities to explore inland.  A stop in Zanzibar includes another exclusive shore event: A gourmet dinner followed by a musical tribute to the son of Zanzibar, Freddy Mercury. An extraordinary three-day exploration of Madagascar precedes stops in South Africa and a seven-day discovery of the West Coast of Africa.  Crossing the Atlantic, for the first time on any World Cruise the ship will sail the length of the Amazon to Manaus famous for its Opera House. Then it’s on the Caribbean where Silver Shadow makes all-new calls in Ile Royale and Mayreau.

Beautifully updated in 2019, Silver Shadow now bears the hallmarks of Italian design that makes Silversea ships renowned for their elegance.  With just 388 passengers, all accommodated in Suites each serviced by personal butlers, the crew to passenger ratio is among the very highest at sea.

Fully 302 crew members serve on the 28,258-ton ship. Silver Shadow also boasts of the highest space-to-guest ratios at sea. Small wonder Silver Shadow is a favorite in Silversea’s fleet-now numbering 10– of the most luxurious ships afloat. And for glorious food, there are no less than four options. La Dame features fine wines and French Gastronomy. La Terrazza is famed for its authentic Italian cuisine.  The Grill is one of two al fresco dining options. And in The Restaurant, you will find destination-inspired menus and familiar favorites. Door-to-door Luxury for the First Time in Silversea’s history

Silversea’s World Cruise guests will be ushered into private limousines and whisked off to their departure airport for Sydney Australia.  Private assistance will escort them to designated airline lounges then on to their departure gates.  From selected US and UK gateways, their flights to Sydney will be in dedicated cabins in Qantas’ renowned Business Class. Silversea passengers will dine on the freshest seasonal menus and be treated to Australian famed hospitality while in flight presented by Qantas Airways in partnership with Silversea. Once in Sydney, passengers will experience VIP Arrival assistance, private executive transfers and will be whisked directly to their Silver Shadow suites.  There their butlers await ready to assist in unpacking, if so desired. Or simply to be at your beck and call whenever you need them.
