Star Clippers: the marvels of Central America
Star Clippers presents its new itineraries for the winter 2022/23 season, discovering Central America with Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua among the destinations.
Beginning in November 2022, Star Clipper will set sail for South America and for the first time since 2014 will dock in Costa Rica and Nicaragua and even sail through the famous Panama Canal. The cruises will be between 7 and 14 nights long.
A few 7-night cruises will depart from Puerto Caldera, stopping in some of Costa Rica’s most popular cities as well as ports in Panama or Nicaragua, depending on the itinerary. The port city of Quepos in Costa Rica, located near the magnificent Manuel Antonio National Park, will offer guests the opportunity to come into contact with monkeys, sloths and nearly 450 species of birds that inhabit the park. Instead, the heavenly beaches of Isla Tortuga will offer the ideal spot for snorkeling or taking a dip in the turquoise waters.
In San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, it will be possible to surf and guests will also be able to get a glimpse of the Mirador del Cristo de la Misericordia statue, one of the largest statues of Jesus in the world that is 134 meters high and located above the San Juan Bay’s northernmost dam.
The two cruises between Balboa, Panama and Costa Rica will offer a complete immersion in Panama’s one-of-a-kind environment. The uninhabited Isla Iguana is a nature reserve located on the Pacific coast of Panama where guests can observe the colorful Fregatidae birds, also known as “sea eagles”, as they fly in formation. Guests can also visit vast coral reefs containing well over 500 marine species including the rare Olive Ridley sea turtles. Any traveler looking for total relaxation will love Isla San Jose, the most beautiful and interesting of the Las Perlas islands, a little 44-km corner of paradise.
Costa Rica offers incredible opportunities for snorkeling with more than 800 miles of coastline and spectacular coral reefs. Star Clippers allows guests to borrow all the necessary equipment for snorkeling for the entire duration of the cruise, to be able to use the gear whenever desired in total autonomy.
The two cruises being offered that traverse the Panama Canal, one at the beginning and the other at the end of the season, will allow guests to see firsthand the impressive engineering work that led to the construction of this canal and will visit the following locations: Bridgetown, Barbados, Balboa, Aruba, Grenada and Colombia.
For more than 25 years, Star Clippers has provided travelers with thrilling experiences on modern sailing ships to the most remote locations and ports of the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.
