Viking Saigon: the new season in Southeast Asia

Viking announced that its new river ship, Viking Saigon, has begun its inaugural season in Southeast Asia. The ship sails between Kampong Cham, Cambodia and Mơ Tho, Vietnam, as part of Viking‘s popular 15-day Magnificent Mekong itinerary.

During this 15-day trip, guests explore the cultural treasures of Vietnam and Cambodia with 16 guided tours. Hotel stays in Hanoi, Siem Reap, and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) offer an eight-day trip on the Mekong River on this unique itinerary, during which guests can explore Hanoi’s historic city center and watch a performance by Apsara dancers; sample distinctive fresh ingredients from lively local markets and restaurants; wander the Khmer temple complex of Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; visit Ta Prohm; and see the sights of Phnom Penh. During the river trip, guests can discover silk towns, fishing villages, monasteries, and floating markets.

With the 2022-2023 season now underway, regular sailing dates are available until March 2023; the 2023-2024 season begins in July 2023.

“The fascinating cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia have always made this region a favorite destination for our guests,” said Torstein Hagen, president of Viking. “We are also delighted to welcome our first guests to Southeast Asia since early 2020. With the arrival of Viking Saigon, we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to this iconic waterway in the coming years.”

Purpose-built for the Mekong River, Viking Saigon accommodates 80 guests in 40 outside cabins. Featuring the clean Scandinavian design for which Viking is known, all cabins have hotel-style beds and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with a French veranda or balcony. It also features a Spa & Fitness Center, Infinity Pool and outdoor Sky Bar on the Upper Deck.
