Ambassador Cruise Line: new cruise company

Ambassador Cruise Line, the new cruise line dedicated to the over-50s, is the first new British cruise line to be launched since 2010. The Purfleet, Essex, U.K.-based company, backed by London-based private equity firm Njord Partners LLP, plans to begin sailing its first ship in April 2022.

The Ambassador Cruise Line management team consists of executives who previously worked together at Cruise & Maritime Voyages, CEO Christian Verhounig, Chief Commercial Officer Christopher Coates, as well as Gary Hides and Simon Weeks.

Ambassador will operate with the 1,400-passenger Ambience ship. Ambience‘s maiden voyage is scheduled for April 6, 2022, and will be a short cruise from Tilbury to Hamburg. After completing its inaugural season in the spring of 2023, the company plans to expand sailings to other destinations including the Baltic capitals, Greenland, Iceland and the Arctic, before cruising to Scandinavia, the Canary Islands, Cuba, the Caribbean and Cape Verde in the winter.

Ambience is an authentic and classic ship, and we know that our target market segment will love it,” said Christian Verhounig.

Ambience was launched in 1991 as Regal Princess before joining the P&O Australia fleet and sailing as Pacific Dawn; it has been completely refurbished with new technologies to reduce atmospheric emissions to be compliant with IMO Tier III regulations, as well as being equipped with advanced wastewater and ballast treatment systems, even allowing navigation in protected ecosystems.

With an average capacity of 1,400 people in 789 cabins, it offers a feeling of spaciousness and freedom without sacrificing the small, intimate corners that make passengers so comfortable.

Ambience will feature five restaurants, with specialty dining options; two cafeterias; nine lounges; a swimming pool; a spa; daytime and nighttime entertainment; fitness and leisure facilities complemented by exciting enrichment and lifestyle programs.

The heart of this ship is the impressive three-story central courtyard, where you’ll find Dicken’s for refreshments, SW19, the Ambassador Casino, shopping gallery, photo gallery, reception and tour desk.

In addition, there are large deck areas from which you can enjoy panoramic views, and for good weather, there are two swimming pools, four hot tubs and a large screen for watching movies and sporting events outdoors.

Ambassador Cruise Line will offer the best of British cruises, good food, fascinating destinations, classic atmospheres, good entertainment, with a greater proportion of passenger space, relaxation and tranquility.

Ambassador Cruise Line, moreover, environmentally aware, will not use disposable plastic and will reduce paper consumption by offering its menus and the program of on-board activities and excursions in digital format.
