Celebrity Cruises: Celebrity Ascent Delivered

Celebrity Ascent, the fourth ship in the Edge class by Celebrity Cruises, has been officially handed over to the company’s officials at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France. Executives from the Royal Caribbean Group and the crew of Celebrity Cruises were also present.

Now officially part of Celebrity Cruises‘ fleet, Celebrity Ascent boasts a visionary design crafted by leading architects and interior designers worldwide, Michelin-starred culinary excellence, and engaging new onboard entertainment. Celebrity Ascent will make its official debut in Fort Lauderdale on December 3 with a 7-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, visiting popular destinations such as St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and the Dominican Republic.

Welcoming the ship to the Celebrity Cruises family were Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, and Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique. The celebration also included Captains Dimitrios Kafetzis and Tasos Kafetzis, along with 1,400 members of the Celebrity Ascent crew. To mark the occasion, they participated in various maritime traditions, including a signing ceremony, flag-changing onboard the ship, and a celebratory toast in the spectacular three-story Grand Plaza of the ship.

As the sister ship to Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Ascent features all the innovative experiences of the Edge series that have ushered in a new era in cruise ship design, along with some enhancements to the experience. Like the entire Edge class, Celebrity Ascent showcases refined both external and internal design, embodying the collaboration between the teams at Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Royal Caribbean Group, and Celebrity Cruises.

Distinctive features of the ship and new experiences include:

The Retreat, an exclusive resort area for suite guests, highlighted by a two-story sun terrace; two-story cabins with a private pool and massive verandas; a multi-level, multi-terrace Sunset Bar at the stern of the ship; six new live shows; a completely redesigned casino with new games, and a new outdoor terrace at the Blu Restaurant; Le Voyage, a new concept by chef Daniel Boulud, and the return of the Magic Carpet, where guests can dine or enjoy a cocktail while suspended over the sea.

After the inaugural voyage, Celebrity Ascent will offer a series of alternating holidays in the Eastern and Western Caribbean until the end of April before heading to the Mediterranean for departures from Barcelona and Rome.

Available itineraries include:
