Enchanted Princess delivered to Princess Cruises
Enchanted Princess was delivered today by Fincantieri to it’s ship owners, Princess Cruises. It is the fifth ship in the Royal class for the company, due to set sail in the Mediterranean next season.
The new flagship of Princess Cruises, the Enchanted Princess, is the fifth ship in the Royal class to join the fleet. More than 140 thousand tons and 330 meters in length makes it one of the largest new-generation ships. On board you can see all the innovation and modernity of Princess Cruises, from the Medallion technology to the many restaurants. And of course all the most important classic Princess Cruises features such as The Piazza, the Retrieve and the Princess Live!
Enchanted Princess is the 18th unit built by Fincantieri for Princess Cruises in the Monfalcone shipyard. They are awaiting another twin, the Discovery Princess, in November 2021. “With the delivery we officially welcome the Enchanted Princess to the Princess family, sealing the strong bond between Carnival Corporation, Princess Cruises and Fincantieri, our trusted partner,” declared Jan Swartz, President of Princess Cruises. “Fincantieri shares our same spirit and offers the highest level of excellence and we know that they will share the enthusiasm and pride we will feel when the ship welcomes its first guests.”
Today marked an important moment for the Italian shipyard as well because they delivered their 100th cruise ship. Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, said: “The Enchanted Princess is a special ship. We are talking about, in fact, the first cruise unit that we have delivered post-Covid, and also the 100th that Fincantieri has built in the last 30 years. We believe that it represents the best incarnation of our ability to face the most difficult moments with passion and dedication, and also the historic resilience of our sector. I would therefore like to wish for “wind in the sails” to this umpteenth jewel we have completed, to our friends at Princess with whom we have successfully collaborated and to all the workers in the cruise industry, trusting that the recovery has already begun.”
Enchanted Princess also represents the first ship to be delivered post-Covid-19, and its sea trials represent one of the first since the lockdown in Italy. Yet another reason for satisfaction and a good omen for being able to return to sailing freely again soon.
At the ceremony held today in Monfalcone the participants included the company leadership and many others viewed the event in live-streaming. The Enchanted Princess for now will remain in Italy while it awaits a more definitive schedule for upcoming itineraries of Princess Cruises that are still possible to book for December 2020 in the Caribbean.
