Explora I has successfully completed sea trials

Explora Journeys has announced that Explora I, the first of a fleet of six luxury ships built by Fincantieri of Italy, has successfully completed sea trials.

Explora I will now undergo a series of final preparations prior to its maiden voyage, which will depart Southampton, UK, on July 17 for a 15-night itinerary through the Norwegian fjords and Arctic Circle to Copenhagen, Denmark.

Michael Ungerer, CEO of Explora Journeys, said: “From day one we set out to create an unprecedented travel experience and we are delighted that the first of our new generation ships, Explora I, will set sail in July 2023. Sea trials are an important part of the design process and we are proud that the ship has passed them with flying colors. Our team has worked hard to design and build a ship that offers the perfect combination of luxury, adventure and sustainability, and we look forward to sharing the result with our guests.”

Explora Journeys will offer discerning travelers the opportunity to enjoy a transformative and meaningful ocean experience that reflects the essence of each destination visited as well as the refined, European and cosmopolitan spirit of the brand, all with full respect for the environment, as Explora Journeys, like the entire MSC Group, is committed to building ships for the future, using the latest technologies and ready to adopt new alternative energy solutions as they become available.
