GPH signs agreement with St Lucia government

Global Ports Holding Plc (“GPH”), the world’s largest independent cruise port operator, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of St Lucia for a 30-year concession, with a potential 10-year extension option for cruise-related operations in St Lucia.

GPH will use its global experience and operating model to manage cruise port operations in St Lucia and also invest in a material upgrade of cruise port facilities, including the expansion of the existing berth at Point Seraphine, which will enable the handling of Oasis-class ships, as well as transforming the retail experience, including through the redevelopment of the Vendor’s Arcade and other facilities in Castries.

GPH, thus, in addition to improving the cruise passenger experience in St Lucia, will also ensure economic benefits for local residents by improving facilities in and around the port such as Fisherman’s Village.

In 2019, St Lucia welcomed about 790k passengers; the completion of the extended pier and upgrading of facilities are expected to increase passenger volumes to over 1 million in the medium term.
