Hanseatic Inspiration: Technical Works Completed

After a period at Kaiserdock II at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven for technical maintenance and repair works to renew the class, the Hanseatic Inspiration has returned to the water with several innovations on board.

During the time spent in the shipyard, over 500 crew members, employees of external companies, and shipyard workers worked on the project, from maintenance of the bow thruster to inspection of the rudder, propellers, and stabilizers, to new carpets, wallpapers, and tiles. The focus was mainly on technical works, but cabins, suites, and public areas also underwent several upgrades. The reception, staircases, corridors, pool deck, and Ocean Spa now have a new look. Additionally, the Hanseatic Inspiration has received a new coat of paint.

Isolde Susset, responsible for expedition cruises and tourism, comments on the works: “Since the Hanseatic Inspiration was put into service in 2019, major renovation works are not necessary. Therefore, we focused on many details.” Guest feedback was also taken into account. “We received feedback that there was a desire to equip the bathrooms of the Grand Suites with underfloor heating. During the stay in the shipyard, we fulfilled this request. We also received feedback that the closet doors in the cabins and suites were sometimes difficult to open. Now all doors are equipped with a new closing system,” adds Isolde Susset.

The Hanseatic Inspiration will now depart for a short trip along the German coasts of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea from Bremerhaven passing through Binz/Rügen, the debut port Timmendorf on the Baltic island of Poel, Wismar, and a day crossing through the Kiel Canal to Cuxhaven and then to Helgoland and List/Sylt up to Hamburg.

For those who want to enjoy the new features on board, there is a 19-day journey from Longyearbyen to Kangerlussuaq from 11.08.2024 to 30.08.2024 scheduled. In this expedition from Spitsbergen through Iceland and Greenland, it will be possible to admire polar destinations and observe animals from a unique perspective. From Longyearbyen, the Hanseatic Inspiration will explore the western coast of Spitsbergen, the northwestern coast of Iceland towards Reykjavik, and finally the southeastern and western coast of Greenland until reaching Kangerlussuaq.
