MedCruise: The Cruise Industry Gathers in Burgas

The official opening of the 63rd General Assembly of MedCruise took place at the new International Congress Center in Burgas, attended by numerous authorities.

Resilience and unity were the key themes of the most anticipated event in the cruise sector, held for the first time along the shores of the Black Sea in Burgas, Bulgaria, from October 10 to 13. Sixteen executives from 11 cruise companies, four media representatives, and two travel experts attended this meeting.

Figen Ayan, President of MedCruise, expressed great satisfaction with the progress made, as confirmed by her words: “We have successfully concluded another biennial MedCruise GA, this time in Burgas, Bulgaria, a harmonious bridge between Europe and the Black Sea. This General Assembly precisely reflects what our industry stands for: resilience, no matter the storms, and coming together even when we are far apart.”

During MedCruise General Assemblies, members gather to grow stronger and better serve the cruise sector, and MedCruise prides itself as the largest global port association.

Throughout this 63rd Assembly, discussions will revolve around port investments and development, the impact of geopolitical risks on regions and cruise ports, strengthening the cruise destination through the port-city relationship, the development of a must-visit cruise destination, a presentation and analysis of the onshore power supply and waste management survey conducted by MedCruise, the importance of Blue Mission Med for MedCruise, and the Ealing Project – a European flagship initiative for cold ironing in ports.

Furthermore, the port of Burgas has also offered port visits and family trips to cruise companies and press representatives with three different tours: the Island of St. Anastasia and Chengeneskele, Nessebar, Sozopol, and Ravadinovo Castle, to discover the beauty of Burgas and its region.
