Meyer Werft: keel laying for Carnival Jubilee
With the laying of the keel, the construction of Carnival Jubilee at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg has reached another milestone. For the first time a ship is being built in Papenburg for this brand and shipping company from Miami.
“We are pleased to take another symbolic step in the construction of Carnival Jubilee with the laying of the keel. The MEYER team will once again produce an innovative, state-of-the-art cruise ship that will enable millions of passengers to enjoy a wonderful vacation,” says Bernard Meyer, CEO of Meyer Werft.
Carnival Jubilee is now nearing completion and will be delivered in late 2023. Carnival Cruise Line will then use the ship for Caribbean cruises from the port of Galveston, Texas. That is why the U.S. state was omnipresent during the keel-laying ceremony: in fact, the cruise line’s president Christine Duffy, wearing a protective helmet in the shape of a cowboy hat, placed the traditional lucky coins under the 375-ton steel block
Carnival Jubilee is the third ship in a series that Meyer Group is building for Carnival Cruise Line. Meyer Turku has already delivered Mardi Gras in 2020 and Carnival Celebration will follow in 2022.
All ships are equipped with low-emission LNG propulsion. For the first time, the most special attraction for passengers on board the three ships are roller coasters.
