Modernization for Phoenix Reisen’s Flagship

Phoenix Reisen continues to make forward-thinking investments in its high-seas fleet of four vessels in collaboration with the shipping company BSM. Starting November 6, 2024, the MS Artania, the largest ship in the fleet with its distinctive turquoise hue, will be hosted by the renowned Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven for a significant refurbishment program.

In addition to routine maintenance, such as renewing carpets, upholstery, and repainting, MS Artania will undergo a substantial transformation. A total investment of €20 million has been allocated to further enhance the ship’s comfort and appeal for its guests.

The most notable updates include the addition of new balcony cabins on the Orion and Apollo decks, as well as a complete renovation of the Artania Restaurant on the Salon Deck. The redesigned restaurant will welcome guests with a fresh look and an elevated dining experience. This occasion also marks the inauguration of a new restaurant, “Pichler’s,” exclusive to the MS Artania. The Lido Restaurant and the fitness center will be upgraded with expansive panoramic windows, offering breathtaking views. Moreover, new water dispensers and upgraded Wi-Fi routers will be installed to improve onboard connectivity. On the technical side, the ship will receive a complete overhaul of its underwater coating systems, which is expected to reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%. Additionally, four new tenders with eco-friendly engines have been commissioned, and the air-conditioning systems will be upgraded to the most advanced energy efficiency class, A.

On December 2, 2024, MS Artania will embark on the first of four Advent-themed cruises before setting sail on December 22, 2024, from Hamburg for the longest world cruise ever organized by Phoenix Reisen—a remarkable 162-day journey around the globe.

With this ambitious modernization program, Phoenix Reisen reaffirms its commitment to delivering unparalleled cruising experiences by blending luxury, innovation, and sustainability. MS Artania, with its new enhancements, is poised to not only host memorable Advent cruises but also to carve an extraordinary chapter in cruise history with its epic 162-day voyage—a testament to Phoenix Reisen’s dedication to excellence and the continuous evolution of its fleet.
