MSC Seascape: First Sea Trials Completed
MSC Seascape, the largest and most technological ship built in Italy, has successfully completed the first sea navigation tests. Sea trials of the new ship took place between August 17 and 20, 2022, thus becoming the flagship of the Italian company.
MSC Seascape, 339 meters long and weighing 169,000 tons, will be delivered to the company in November. It will be the fourth of the Seaside Class ships and the second Seaside EVO built by Fincantieri.
Its naming ceremony will be held at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York on December 7, 2022. It will immediately offer two different itineraries departing from Miami, Florida: One route with stops in the Dominican Republic, Bahamas, and Puerto Rico, and the second stopping in the Bahamas, Mexico, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica.
The new ship will be the company’s second to sail in 2022 after MSC World Europa. The managing director of MSC Cruises, Leonardo Massa, stressed that the Italian company is preparing for further global growth by offering new destinations for its guests to discover, thanks to a fleet that will grow from 19 to 22 ships with the christening of the revolutionary MSC Euribia in May 2023.
MSC Seascape, as well as its sister ship MSC Seashore, represents a great evolution of the Seaside EVO ships for its interior and exterior spaces inspired by the metropolitan city of the United States. In fact, the ship boasts 2,770 cabins with 12 different types, including the much-loved aft suites. It also has 11 dining options, 19 bars, and lounges (including outdoor locations). It boasts six swimming pools, including an aft infinity pool from which you can enjoy a spectacular ocean view. The onboard MSC Yacht Club, the company’s ship-within-a-ship, presents itself as one of the largest and most luxurious of its kind at 3,000 square meters. Among the most fascinating features of MSC Seascape, is a 540-meter-long outdoor promenade, “Bridge of Sighs,” on Deck 16 with a glass floor and direct sea view.
MSC is attentive to the protection of the marine ecosystem and sea pollution. Among the characteristics of the new environmental technologies on MSC Seascape is a system for managing underwater noise, with the aim of safeguarding marine mammals. In addition to this is a new system to prevent oil discharge. Among the most important features of the ship is a new hybrid exhaust gas cleaning system that will remove 98% of sulfur oxide emissions.
