Norwegian Cruise Line presents Norwegian Viva

Norwegian Cruise Line starts the year with great news by presenting Norwegian Viva, the second ship of the new Prima Class, currently under construction at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard.

Norwegian Viva will sail in June 2023, offering itineraries in the Mediterranean and calling at major port cities in southern Europe, including Lisbon in Portugal, Trieste and Rome (Civitavecchia) in Italy; and Athens (Piraeus), in Greece. It will later move to the Southern Caribbean for the 2023-2024 winter season.

Mirroring the high-end design and structure of sister ship Norwegian Prima, Norwegian Viva will debut at 295 meters long, 142,500 gross tons and accommodate 3,219 guests.

This world-class ship will not only offer highly trained staff, the most spacious space of any new cruise ship in the contemporary and premium categories and the largest variety of suite categories available at sea, but will also boast a revamped The Haven by Norwegian, the ultra-premium keycard that allows exclusive access to the ship within the ship. The public areas and 107 suites of The Haven designed by Piero Lissoni, will include a large sunbathing area, a stunning infinity pool overlooking the ship’s wake and an outdoor spa with a glass-walled sauna and a cold room for cryotherapy.

Various First Class recreational activities will also be aboard Norwegian Viva, with experiences available only on First Class, including the fastest slides at sea with The Rush and The Drop and the largest three-level track at sea with the Viva Speedway.

Norwegian Viva will feature Ocean Boulevard, the 4,000-plus-square-foot open-air space that wraps around the entire ship; Indulge Food Hall with 11 varieties of restaurants; The Concourse, which boasts an outdoor sculpture garden; an expansive pool deck and infinity pools at Infinity Beach; and Oceanwalk, a pathway with glass bridges over the water.

Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, said, “Norwegian Viva sets the standard in the premium segment, showing our commitment to pushing the boundaries in four main areas: wide open space, service that puts guests first, thoughtful design and experiences beyond expectations. We’ve taken everything our guests love to the next level with this all-new class of ship designed with them in mind.”

Norwegian Viva will boast eye-catching hull decoration designed by Italian graffiti and sculpture artist Manuel Di Rita, commonly known as “Peeta,” who also created the exceptional hull design on Norwegian Prima. World-renowned architects who contributed to the design of Norwegian Prima, including Rockwell Group, SMC Design and Miami-based Studio Dado, are back to influence the aesthetics of various restaurants, cabins and public areas.

Norwegian Viva, the second of six Prima Class ships being built with us, reinforces the great partnership between Norwegian Cruise Line and Fincantieri,” said Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri‘s Merchant Ship Division.

“We were extremely pleased when we learned that Norwegian Prima, the first of the new class, achieved record bookings and are excited to see how Norwegian Viva will match its sister ship. As we have demonstrated our resilience in these challenging times, this announcement is another testament to Fincantieri’s global leadership role in the cruise industry.”

The first two Prima Class ships, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, will be equipped with state-of-the-art alternative technologies, such as a NOx emission reduction system (SCR), which reduces the ship’s overall environmental impact. They will also feature an Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS), an advanced wastewater treatment system and Cold Ironing functionality to connect to onshore power grids to further reduce emissions in port.
