Scenic Eclipse II: sea trials completed
Scenic Eclipse II, the new ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht from Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours, has successfully completed her sea trials and returned to the 3.Maj shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia, for final trim before her maiden voyage on April 13.
Sea trials are a significant milestone in launching a ship, and Scenic Eclipse II was put through its paces in two sessions in the northern Adriatic between Croatia and Italy to demonstrate the ship’s performance with a series of speed, stability, and maneuverability checks.
“Scenic Eclipse II has been built to the highest standards and it’s great to see the Discovery Yacht sailing for sea trials and exceeding all expectations, the countdown to launch has begun”, said vice president of marine operations, James Griffiths.

The long-awaited 114-suite ship will join Scenic‘s ultra-luxury fleet joining her sister Scenic Eclipse in less than two months, with an 11-day inaugural cruise, “Incredible Iberian Discovery”, from Lisbon to Barcelona, departing April 13.
Scenic Eclipse II, a landmark in ultra-luxury cruising taken to a new level, will spend the summer season exploring the Mediterranean, Iceland, and Scotland, before moving on to the warmer waters of the Caribbean and then reaching Antarctica. In 2024 it will also visit Polynesia, Indonesia, and Australia, where Scenic was founded 37 years ago.

Operating in protected marine environments such as Antarctica, the Discovery Yacht, has several cutting-edge technical features such as high-tech GPS dynamic positioning that keeps ships in position without the need to drop anchor on ecologically sensitive seabeds; customized stabilizers; an Advance Azipod propulsion system that minimizes noise and vibration to reduce disturbance, improves maneuverability and reduces fuel consumption; and the latest wastewater treatment systems to protect marine life.
Scenic Eclipse II will officially join the fleet in early June in Malaga with a naming ceremony.
