SH Minerva: first Swan Hellenic cruise set sail

With SH Minerva‘s New Year’s cruise, Swan Hellenic inaugurates its activity and sets out to discover Antarctica.

The new ship set sail from Ushuaia to celebrate the new year with a 9-day Antarctic cruise.

The first guests of the SH Minerva, in the charge of Captain Tuomo Leskinen and Hotel Director Philipp Reutener, celebrated the New Year in the polar scenery. Under the guidance of expedition leader Pablo Brandeman, polar expert Steve Blamires and ornithologist Andy Bunten, the tourists had the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the sights and fauna of the Antarctic Peninsula and Shetland Islands.

SH Minerva is the first of three high ice class cultural expedition cruise ships built for travel experiences in areas of extreme latitude. The ship was designed to meet the latest environmental regulations. In fact, it is equipped with advanced exhaust gas purification systems, water treatment and waste storage facilities.

The menus of renowned chef Jörg Lehmann, in collaboration with Consultant Chefs Andrea Ribaldone and Sang Keun Oh, offer international as well as Italian and fusion dishes on board. An added value to these expedition cruises that will take lucky guests to the most remote places in the world wrapped in the elegant and comfortable environment of SH Minerva and Swan Hellenic‘s future sister units.
