Guests traveling aboard the Silver Whisper of Silversea Cruises arrived in Copenhagen on May 22, marking the conclusion of the Tale of Tales World Cruise, the only ultra-luxury world cruise to have operated in 2022.

Roberto Martinoli, Silversea President and CEO, and Barbara Muckermann, Chief Commercial Officer, greeted guests at a special gala dinner at the historic Gamle Logen in Oslo on May 18, celebrating the finale of a highly successful cruise.

During 138 days, travelers discovered 62 destinations in 30 countries on six continents, traveling from 65° South to 65° North and reaching contrasting destinations such as Antarctica and Iceland, Turkey and South Africa, South Georgia and the Seychelles.

“We are incredibly proud to have welcomed guests aboard Silver Whisper for our Tale of Tales World Cruise 2022, overcoming many challenges to operate this year’s only ultra-luxury round-the-world cruises,” said Roberto Martinoli, Silversea President and CEO.

“We thank our guests for joining us on this great journey: their support and enthusiasm encouraged us to keep going. In the company of some of the world’s leading creative storytellers, our guests enjoyed some of the most authentic experiences available in the most enriching destinations on the planet, on an itinerary largely unchanged from the original. I must thank our phenomenal crew, who are the unsung heroes of the journey. The extraordinarily strong demand for our cruises around the world in 2023 and 2024 meant that they sold out very quickly, but we will soon unveil more details about Silversea’s innovative World Cruise for 2025″.

Seven famous creatives, Tale Tellers, joined Silversea guests aboard the Silver Whisper during the 2022 World Cruise, enriching the experience with in-depth presentations and interacting with guests along the way.

“Meeting old friends again during the World Cruise, meeting some new friends, and hearing the wonderful stories that almost all guests and crew members seemed to contribute was a pleasure once again,” said Pico Iyer.

CUSTOMISED EVENTS, AN OVERLAND PROGRAM, AND OTHER ENRICHMENTS

In addition to an immersive overland experience in Cappadocia, Turkey, guests enjoyed a series of regionally inspired onboard events and a special range of exclusive shore excursions, such as a welcome banquet aboard Silver Whisper to celebrate the start of the voyage; an authentic celebration in Cartagena, Colombia, on the 10th of January, which was inspired by the rhythm of Colombia’s lively musical tradition; an exclusive evening of festivities awaited guests at the defunct Hillcrest Quarry in Cape Town, South Africa, on February 23; an exclusive performance by Carmen’s Suite at the Cartuja Center in Seville, on April 21; and finally to commemorate the conclusion of the Tale of Tales 2022 Cruise, guests attended a farewell gala dinner at the famous Gamle Logen banquet hall in Oslo, a historic venue with a rich legacy of royal entertainment, on May 18.

CONTROTEMPO 2025

Following exceptionally strong demand, Silversea‘s world tours for 2023 and 2024 are fully booked and the cruise line will soon share details on its global sailing for 2025. Briefly unveiled by Barbara Muckermann at the farewell gala dinner, the ‘Controtempo‘ world tour will set sail in January 2025, opening up new experiences in iconic destinations during unconventional seasons. Silversea‘s seasoned guests will experience familiar destinations in a whole new light, with immersive moments customised by the cruise line’s destination experts showcasing the people and stories of each location at their best.

“Our guests have seen a lot of the world,” says Barbara Muckermann. “But our Controtempo cruise in 2025 will unlock new ways to travel even deeper into the most familiar and iconic destinations on the planet, while also travelling in unusual ways to completely new places. Our close-knit community of guests from around the world are exceptionally passionate about discovering new experiences and Controtempo will enable them to do exactly that.”
