Swan Hellenic: a space partnership with SETI
Swan Hellenic has announced a partnership with the SETI Institute, intended to engage Swan Hellenic’s many adventure-minded travelers.
The goal is to provide guests with insights into the history and latest discoveries in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics, astrobiology and knowledge of our planet, as well as the search for new life in and outside our solar system. Purposes that take SETI Institute researchers to the most remote and inhospitable corners of the Earth, including Antarctica, where the Swan Hellenic fleet is present for several months of the year.
The project will engage guests with never-before-seen presentations on exploration around the Earth, and beyond, with SETI Institute equipment installed on board, such as an advanced telescope.
Among the SETI experts scheduled for the 2023 Swan Hellenic cruises is Dr. Simon Steel, Director of Education & Outreach and Deputy Director of Research, who will accompany SH Vega guests on cultural expeditions to Antarctica, the British Isles and Iceland.
Bill Diamond, president and CEO of the SETI Institute, is also finalizing arrangements to accompany Swan Hellenic‘s Arctic Odyssey cruise aboard the SH Diana in June and further said, “Public outreach and engagement are also at the core of our mission, and we are delighted to have the opportunity for our scientific experts to interact with the curious explorers traveling with Swan Hellenic.“
Andrea Zito, CEO of Swan Hellenic, emphasized that he is immensely proud of this new partnership, which adds to Swan Hellenic‘s mission to bring guests to see “what others do not see.”
