Swan Hellenic: SH Diana float out


SH Diana, the largest and newest ship in Swan Hellenic‘s ultra-modern 5-star fleet, left dry dock at Helsinki Shipyard on Monday, Jan. 23.

Outfitting of SH Diana is already underway, and will be completed on schedule for its inaugural cruise, “Mysteries of Carthage and the Moors,” which will sail from Palermo, Italy on April 15 and conclude in Lisbon on April 25.

SH Diana will later make its way along Europe’s western Atlantic coast to explore the Arctic.

Andrea Zito, CEO of Swan Hellenic Limited, said, “We are delighted with the construction progress and quality of SH Diana, a polar-class PC6 ship with state-of-the-art and sustainable ship technology, which will enter service as scheduled in April. We look forward to welcoming our guests on board to experience our cultural expedition cruises with the option, for the first time, to choose between coastal exploration by tender and expedition by zodiac.”

Kim Salmi, CEO of Helsinki Shipyard, said, “With exemplary cooperation between our staff, owner representatives, and our multiple contractors and suppliers, SH Diana has reached maturity for this milestone and has been launched. Work will now continue with an intensive commissioning phase, preparing her to accommodate passengers in April.”

SH Diana, a PC6 polar-class ship with a gross tonnage of 12,100 tons, will have a length of 125 meters and will have 9 decks and 96 cabins, including 11 suites, where it will accommodate its 192 passengers. It will also be equipped with 15 Zodiacs, 8 Kayaks and 2 tenders not forgetting the 12-member expedition team.
