“Viking Neptune” launched in Ancona
On 13 January 2022 “Viking Neptune” was inaugurated at the Ancona plant. She is the new Fincantieri cruise ship for Viking Cruises.
The unit will position itself in the small unit market segment. In fact, like the twin units, she will be equipped with 465 cabins and will be able to accommodate up to 930 passengers.
Viking Naptune, ninth in the class, was designed by the engineers and architects of two interior design teams: the London-based SMC Design team and the Los Angeles team Rottet Studios. These gave the project a modern and sophisticated Scandinavian feel. Each cabin has a veranda. The ship also features spacious suites, two swimming pools, alfresco dining options and a spa with a sauna and snow cave.
Viking Cruises ships comply with recent navigation regulations. In addition, they are equipped with the most modern security systems, including the “safe return to port”. Above all, they also comply with environmental regulations: the highly efficient, hydrodynamic and optimized hull engines reduce fuel consumption and minimize exhaust gas pollution.
Fincantieri’s relationship with Viking began in 2012, trusting the shipping company that had entered the oceanic cruise market as a start-up. Today the collaboration has reached 20 total units, including the two special cruise ships ordered from Vard, “Viking Octantis” and “Viking Polaris”, and confirmed options.
Another 9 vessels, including those in option, will set sail from the Italian coasts in the coming years.
