Star Pride sets sail from Athens with a new look
Windstar Cruises announced the return of the yacht Star Pride to the Mediterranean after a complex lengthening and transformation process at the Italian Fincantieri shipyard.
The yacht, consisting entirely of Star Plus suites, set sail from Athens for an eight-day voyage to Barcelona. Some of the ports of call included in the route are: Gythion, Corfu, Argostoli, Messina (Taormina), Trapani and Cagliari.
At the moment, all of the company’s sailing yachts are back under sail. In addition to the modernisation work, Windstar Cruises introduced new high-tech air filtration systems to ensure a safe travel experience for passengers, even in the post-pandemic period.
Star Pride was not the only yacht to undergo major transformations, an investment of over $250 million also involved the company’s two other Star Plus class yachts. Following the successful refurbishment of Star Breeze then Star Legend; the refurbishment of new suites and the expansion of interior and exterior spaces were completed with Star Pride this June. The yachts are now more environmentally friendly and equipped with new efficient engines.
In addition to increasing the maximum capacity from 212 to 312, the three yachts offer a full-fledged spa and fitness centre, an elegant outdoor infinity pool and new culinary experiences in collaboration with star chefs such as Steven Raichlen and Anthony Sasso. In spite of all the improvements, the three yachts retain their typical small size and will continue to visit the world’s smallest and most unique marinas.
