Windstar Cruises, in partnership with Coral Gardeners

Windstar Cruises has embarked on a three-year partnership with Coral Gardeners, an organization based in Mo’orea, French Polynesia, determined to revolutionize ocean conservation and create a global movement to save coral reefs through coral reef restoration, outreach activities, and innovative solutions.

“This new partnership is a wonderful way to celebrate Tahiti during our 35th anniversary season, but more importantly, to make a positive impact for the future of these incredible islands,” said Windstar President Christopher Prelog. “We have focused on reducing our carbon footprint by upgrading our fleet’s engines and operations. The next step in climate action at sea is to partner with Coral Gardeners to protect the environment in French Polynesia and beyond.”

In fact, 2022 is the 35th anniversary of Windstar‘s sailing to Tahiti in French Polynesia, where the company sails year-round, giving guests ample opportunity to plan a unique visit in any season. Windstar also celebrated its anniversary throughout October with special events, integration with local dignitaries and artists, and an increased infusion of local culture both on board and ashore.

The partnership begins this month with Windstar donating $35,000 to Coral Gardeners to adopt coral for all guests sailing in French Polynesia with Windstar for the remainder of 2022, who will receive a small note in their room alerting them to the coral adoption in their name.

In 2023 and 2024, however, every guest who books a Windstar cruise to French Polynesia will be offered the chance to adopt a coral with a donation of $35 per person, thus choosing to help save the coral reefs they enjoy during their Tahiti cruise.
