Description

Oriental Dragon is a casino ship now docked off the coast of Singapore. With a long history, the ship boasts a noble career in the cruise industry. Born as the Sun Viking, it was one of three original cruise ships ordered by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines to begin its fleet. The ship was put into service for the first time in 1972. Together with her sister ships, the Song of Norway and the Nordic Prince, the class included the first ships specially built for cruises in the Caribbean.
In 1998, the Sun Viking was sold to Star Cruises and renamed the SuperStar Sagittarius. Then it was subsequently renamed the Hyundai Pongnae in 2003, sailing for the Hyundai Merchant Marine Company, before being renamed the Omar III for Asia Cruises. From 2007 to 2010 it was then the Long Jie before finally becoming the Oriental Dragon in 2011 operating out of Hong Kong before being transferred to Penang, Malaysia.
