Costa Toscana: all the news from Costa Cruises
Costa Toscana represents the second Excellence-class ship for Costa Cruises, built at Meyer Turku and entering service in March 2022.
The numbers are those of the largest ships currently in operation: 337 meters long and 42 meters wide. 19 decks, for a height of 63 meters. The on-board services are also truly incredible: 18 bars, 15 restaurants, 4 swimming pools.
The extraordinariness of the Costa Toscana lies in the offer of a wide choice of dining options, of places to spend your free time and the beauty of many small hidden spaces that, even within a ship of this size, allow everyone to carve out their own corner of privacy and relaxation.
On-board accommodation also offers a wide range of possibilities. Of the 2663 cabins, divided over numerous decks, there are at least six categories: interior, exterior sea view, balcony overlooking the sea, terrace overlooking the sea, suites and grand suites. Space for every need, in short, from the most essential to the real apartment on the sea.
There are many places on board. It is difficult to list and classify them: it will be one of the most exciting things to get lost on board and get to know them one by one. The first impact will certainly be with the Colosseum, the central area of the ship, which occupies three decks in height and hosts live shows. All around, a series of clubs overlook the large atrium, making it always lively and busy. Here, on deck 6, is Vergnano Caffè, where you can start the day with the best espresso and some croissants. On deck 7 is the Campari Bar, where the best spritzes are served, and the new Sushino, which offers wonderful sushi and sashimi all day long. On the upper deck instead, the Kartell Bar offers innovative cocktails, inspired by the design creations of the famous brand Kartell.
The bars are just as numerous: at Il Mattino, near the reception, you can have a snack or a great coffee all day long. Ice creams and other delicacies are served at Amarillo, on deck 8 in the bow, but also in the pool area, where there is another small store, next to Nutella at Costa. The Leonardo Grand Bar serves as a meeting place in the evening, with live music and a dance floor. Spazio Bollicine Ferrari is located in Piazza dei Miracoli, where Amarillo and Bar Sport are also located.
On board there are also two Aperol Spritz Bars, one inside and one outside, both very welcoming. At the La Spiaggia Beach Club there is another bar, as well as on the outside decks there is the Orizzonte Bar, with a view of the ship’s wake, and the Infinity Bar, in the splendid setting at the stern of deck 7.
The restaurants on board the Costa Toscana offer an embarrassment of choice. Some of them are dedicated to normal dinner shifts or open for lunch: La Maremma, Il Vigneto, Le Anfore or the buffet restaurant La Sagra dei Sapori. Among the specialty restaurants we have already mentioned Sushino, to which we can add a long list of other options. The Heineken Star Club & Bistro is open all day and offers great grill and sandwich menus. The ever-present Pummid’oro always offers some of the best pizzas by the sea. On the outside decks there are the Kiki Poke and the Green Healthy Food. In the pool area, the Salty Beach Street Food is ideal for a snack, especially in the evening. Other gastronomic experiences to try are the Food Lab, the Archipelago Restaurant, where you can choose from three different menus by starred chefs, and the famous Teppanyaki.
For wellness lovers, Costa Cruises‘ new flagship offers ample opportunities for fitness and relaxation. The Solemio Spa offers a range of services from the snow cave, to a whirlpool, with a long list of treatments. Solemio Beauty offers all beauty services and the Solemio Gym a great selection of exercise equipment with sea views. The Sports Court allows you to play outdoors, while the Spash Aqua Park will give you the right amount of adrenaline to tackle a series of water slides.
Among the services of the Costa Toscana, in addition to the usual MyTours and MyMoments, dedicated to excursions and photographs taken on board, there is the Granducato Casino, divided on two sides and with numerous tables and slots. The Arcade Game Room is dedicated to adults and children, located around the casino. The stores are just as numerous and are located the most points of the ship. At the bow of deck 7, near the reception, you can find souvenirs, clothing and jewelry, but also along decks 7 and 8 in the center of the ship you can get lost in shopping, from the Mercatino to jewelry and watches.
Shows are held both at the Colosseum and at the Poltrona Frau Arena theater, at the bow of the ship, which in the evening also serves as a disco.
On board are no less than four swimming pools. The central covered one, La Spiaggia Beach Club, offers a series of terraces with hot tubs overlooking the pool area and includes relaxation areas, bars and various dining options. One pool is located in the bow area, Versilia Pool, with beautiful side cabanas. Finally, two others are located in the stern area, in an area called Il Forte, on both sides of the ship, with a beautiful common area set up with tables, deckchairs and a small stage for shows and entertainment.
The outdoor areas of Costa Toscana offer many spaces and environments to live all day long. Piazza del Campo is the large amphitheater at the stern, where shows are offered and various games are played. There are various sunbathing areas all along the upper deck, with nooks and crannies to discover as you go. Beautiful are the walks on the Volare Skywalk and the Infinity Walk.
For children, the Squok Club and the Squok Restaurant will be the ideal places to spend their vacation, immersed in large spaces dedicated to them and with games of all kinds. The reserved restaurant is certainly a useful service for families and children.
The Costa Toscana is a latest-generation ship that offers a complete cruise style open to all types of travelers, with a wide range of gastronomic choices, entertainment and organization of one’s free time. An evolution of a successful project, that of Costa Smeralda, which will offer new itineraries and great opportunities for fun at sea.
