Swan Hellenic: Let’s Discover SH Diana
SH Diana is the third unit in the Swan Hellenic fleet, inspired by the cultural expedition cruises that have rapidly expanded the fleet to offer increasingly diverse and comprehensive itineraries.
The size is that of a medium-sized ship: just over 12 thousand tons, 125 meters long and with a capacity of up to 192 passengers. Exactly what is needed to create a familiar and intimate environment, but at the same time have all the most modern amenities.
Onboard the SH Diana, guests are welcomed in a relaxed and modern atmosphere, with soft colors and regular lines that contribute to a feeling of relaxation and well-being. The public areas are located on Decks 2 and 4, as well as Decks 7 and 8, and offer a variety of places for entertainment as well as for enjoying a few moments of privacy while reading a good book or immersing oneself in the observation of the sea and wildlife that Swan Hellenic‘s itineraries often offer.
Deck 3 is entirely dedicated to the preparation of excursions, a key part of the fleet’s philosophy, which cleverly combines culture and knowledge of the places visited with shore excursions. Basecamp is the place to prepare for the departure of the Zodiac, dressing in the appropriate clothing in anticipation of the fantastic discoveries that await guests outside the ship. Equally interesting is the Expedition Lab, Library and Clinic. Here you can learn from experts and scientists about the places we will visit, study the materials and learn about the characteristics of the flora and fauna. You can also browse through the many books that will take you to our destinations before we even get there.
Much of SH Diana‘s shipboard life takes place on Deck 7. Toward the bow is the Observation Lounge, the nerve center of the ship. This is where briefings and meetings take place, where destinations and the next day’s program are presented. It is also the ideal place to enjoy an afternoon aperitif or coffee, taking in the view and chatting with guests who share your cruise experience. On the starboard side, a beautiful room is used as a Card Room with card tables, which is also a quieter place to watch the sea while enjoying a drink from the nearby bar.
In the aft section is the Club Lounge, a very cozy space, large but divided into many elegant and intimate corners where meals are served more informally. Some dishes are served buffet-style, but meals are also served at tables. Again, large windows provide breathtaking views, with the blue sea always providing a backdrop to the cruising experience.
Finally, the outdoor area on Deck 7 is very nice. It houses the Pool Bar & Grill, for quick or informal dining, overlooking the stern of the ship. In addition to the swimming pool available to guests, it is a true ocean view. A relaxing area to spend a few hours in the sun, but also to enjoy an outdoor aperitif when the itinerary allows.
The upper deck, the eighth, is dedicated to wellness. A spa overlooking the sea offers moments of absolute relaxation, perhaps after some challenging excursions to the more remote parts of the world. A sauna with a view of the icebergs, for example, is certainly one of the indelible memories that SH Diana can offer its guests. But the list of treatments and the modern, well-equipped gym also make the ship an island of comfort and well-being amidst views far removed from the everyday.
Itineraries will not always allow you to lounge on the Stargazing Deck loungers on Deck 9, but when it is not possible, it will be for a good reason: to be in the Arctic or perhaps the Antarctic. Then there is the Swan Nest, on Deck 6, for breathtaking passages between islands and snow-capped mountains from the bow of the ship.
Excellent cuisine and fine wines are served in the Swan Restaurant on Deck 4. Spacious, bright and welcoming, the main restaurant is the setting to be tempted by the ship’s chefs and collaborations with famous chefs, and to restore body and mind before the next excursions. It is accessible from Deck 4, the main entrance to the ship, where you will also find the Reception Desk, capable of providing any service and information to guests.
SH Diana also has a Marina which, weather permitting, can be used as an additional embarkation point for Zodiacs or for the famous “Polar Plunge”, a dive into the most remote waters on earth. Or perhaps you would like to venture out in a kayak for a leisurely paddle among the icebergs.
Swan Hellenic‘s new ship, thanks to its polar class, is able to reach the most extreme itineraries, while at the same time offering its guests the atmosphere of a large private yacht, where they can find their own dimension and the intimacy necessary for relaxation and well-being, even when the excursions are pleasantly challenging.
