This ship is designed to sail along the shallow French waterways of the Rhône and Seine rivers, in complete comfort and luxurious style. The public spaces and cabins of the ship feature elements of polished marble and brass maintained impeccably, along with glass and crystal chandeliers. The MS Emerald was completely renovated in 2017, largely to reduce the number of passengers on board and introduce a new, spacious cabin category; cabins on Deck 2 were renovated, increasing from 14sqm to 20sqm.
The renovation also brought about Arthur's, a casual restaurant named after Tauck's president, Arthur Tauck. In the evenings, the atmosphere is slightly more elegant, with a suggested "resort casual" dress code. Typically, at least one gala evening is organized per cruise on the MS Emerald, where passengers are invited, if they wish, to dress appropriately. In the main dining room of the ship, Compass Rose, T-shirts, jeans, flip-flops, and sneakers are prohibited in the evening. Passengers looking for a more relaxed atmosphere can dine at the ship's alternative restaurant, Arthur's.
All cabins are equipped with in-room movies, a minibar, adjustable air conditioning, a private bathroom with a shower, and toiletries. Most cabins have large floor-to-ceiling windows with real French balconies to enjoy the changing scenery day by day.
